Hello folks,
I started the FSM Swakhammers a couple days ago....anybody else build this thing???? I'm not sure how much I like this model....I hope I have enough t-squares to keep everything straight. Anyway, this is what I have so far...I want to get all the buildings finished by Friday.....or maybe I'll have to get a bunch more t-squares......and a gallon of Elmer's.

Looking forward to your progress Karl, I'm waiting from the Railcar Shed from Jimmy and that'll be my first FSM kit. Meantime I'll be learning with you.

Karl, I have this one sitting on my shelf. I will be very interested in seeing how you like building this kit. I keep wavering back and forth, trying to decide if I should build this one or not. Can't wait to see what you do with this one! Jeff

Hey:
What with the polish pickle bottle. You get hungry while you work?

Karl O Good start to a FSM kit. Nice to see the collection of squares you use for trueing up the corners. Keep posting as many progress pics as you can. Karl S brought up a interesting observation: Does quantity of dill pickle spears eaten during a work session have a direct relationship to the amount of work you get done?

Hey Karl, I love the photos of your work area I've studied it over an over, I would like to see more although you always say `I don't like photos of my workbench, too unclean' I'd also like to see your paint collection, I can only see one little bottle of Floquil Mud? hiding on the lower right. Can you give us a blow by blow of priming and detailing all the little white metal castings that come with one of those FSM's when you get to them? Pretty please? PaulD

Hello folks,
Well, got some more done on the old Swak kit.....anybody else build this thing?? I think it is a great looking model but be prepared to spend a little time on this one.
I built the foundation for the main building and put braces at each corner. I think it will be more accurate when placing the building on the foundation...all will be square.
I have no idea how the shrunken head got into the photo...it was a gift from my fifth wife who is now living in Portland with our 19 children.
Ok, so that's that.....
Karl O.

Thanks for posting the wip pictures Karl, they are very valuable for us scratchbuilding guys as we can understand better how things are made and give us good ideas on replicating techniques. Thanks a lot.

From what I've been able to determine by tracking the sales on e-Bay, you are the only one actually building the kit. The rest just keep changing hands for ever-increasing amounts of money.
