Sully, good point. My layout is closer to the 4' mark but nor am I a tall guy. I think I will leave that part in the "something to figure out when the time comes" pile.
Cheers,
Dave

Shifting gears slightly (my hobby ADHD has me thinking about painting rolling stock and locos). I need some graphic arts help to design a logo. I was thinking of either the ubiquitous Circle with a bar through it and then I remembered the Rio Grand Southern, which would fit my name almost perfectly. Anyway I need to find a way to make the logo so that I can print some decals. I believe I still have decal paper from some years ago (hopefully not dried out).
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dave,

While adapting the Rio Grande logo is possible, it would take some work. I looked thru my collection of almost 5000 fonts and couldn't find one that even comes close. I would say that you would need someone to hand draw the logo (with the name of your railway of course), and then scan it into a computer where it can cleaned up and made into art work. I have never tried type design before so I am not sure how hard it is, or what is involved.

However, I did take a stab at designing a logo, and would be willing to help design one to your liking as long as it falls within the limits of what I can actually do. So, if you can sketch up any logo concepts, I will try to adapt them as best as I can.

Here's my first attempt:

Take care,
Rob.

Rob, You, sir, are a genius (and generous). I will see what I can draft up.
Cheers,
Dave

Here are some of the looks I came up with that I like. .. all based on existing RR logos. I loved the "bars" running through Rob's logo - very professional-looking. I worry about how to put it on a freight car; so maybe I need two versions? Smaller one for cars and another for the tender?
Thanks again for your help.
Dave

Hi Dave,

Can you send me a bigger version of these drawings to my email address (robchant64@gmail.com)? I will see what I can do.

Take care,
Rob.

Wow, Rob, that's fantastic! I'm stuck at work (oops!) and can't get you larger pics until tonight but it looks like you managed quite well without. I'm liking the RGS look-a-like as well as the second one with script.
Thanks,
Dave

Rob, superb work! I think I'm torn between the circle and RGS one.
Cheers,
Dave
