It's been awhile. 78* here at the beach today and sunny tomorrow so I will mow
the lawn - hopefully for the last time this year as we are looking at low 30*s
by midweek. On the RR front NGDU and British "Review" arrived this past week so
good reading. Hard to believe the holidays are arriving. Take care all.

First check in since last spring. No Railroading all summer. Now that winter is here, the sound of the train whistle calls me. Got myself a Drone last summer, so been having fun with that, but getting to cold out side to fly. So, thinking about heading down to the layout in progress. Hope you all are doing fine, I am good, healthy, and still having fun.
Jim

Morning, All. I have a pot of coffee on and some sticky buns on the counter. I puttered a bit with some ground work but am struggling with a good recipe for "sculptamold" that doesn't harden too quickly or stay too soft. It was my plan to "railroad" yesterday (my birthday) but ended up spending it with my wife, who also took the day off, running the dog on the beach and doing a little shopping. Can't complain - I ended up with a fine roast beast dinner with homemade buns and trimmings, with homemade eclairs for dessert!
Cheers,
Dave

I'm guilty of not being here in the last 8 or 9 months.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!

With winter on its way I'll be around more often to say hi.

Everyone have a great day!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY David

It has been a while since I have posted here. I have not progressed with the layout yet as despite retiring on the 29 September work for my old employer (The Workshops Rail Museum) is still getting in the way. I am rewriting sections of my chapter on World War 1 light railways which got favourable reviews from the peer reviewers who made some recommendations for improvements.

I have also finished a chapter on the construction of the Cairns Railway for the Australian Institution of Engineers which has been peer reviewed and I have resubmitted it with a few minor amendments.

Best Regards

My wife and I took my father to lunch at a local hotel to celebrate his 98th birthday yesterday. We all enjoyed our get together.

I have started some more tidying up in the T-shed in the hope of getting started on layout work again. One problem I have on the upper deck is the frass (insect crap and dirt) falling from the joints between the walls and ceiling. While at the NNGC in Denver this year I saw a couple of ideas to support a light-weight shelter over the top of the deck to catch this and to also use it as a support for strings of LED lights. I am following up these thoughts with the Tuesday Nighters.

Best Regards

98! Wow! My dad is 91 this year and still hale and hearty. Lives on his own, walks to get groceries, plays lawn bowling and has regular Bridge get-togethers with the lawn bowling club. I hope I do as well. Played a bit with the RR on the weekend - most of it was planning purposes for the dock that I need to build. Trying to figure out space and buildings. It also resulted in a Marvel movie marathon as I doodled.
Cheers,
Dave

I miss the Geezer's holiday banter.
Smells of pies and cakes in the house as we get ready for guests. First year without Gail's mom so an empty seat now after 20 years we've been together.
Raining out today. I've had to pump the pool cover off 3 times this fall. Never did that before so I don't know what's different.
Enjoy your turkey

Well, as we approach the 1st of December I thought I'd take a peak here. Sadly, most On30 folks have been elsewhere. I know the scale is doing well but it seems out old faithfuls have gotten sidetracked.
I've been lax on the modeling front too but have some good ideas for new rolling stock kits. Later this month maybe.
Chilly here in SE Mass. now. Gail is getting into the Christmas decorating mood. That's her thing now, not so much for me anymore.
I did manage to finish the last of the turkey leftovers....soup, yesterday. I do like turkey almost as much as steak.
Enjoy
