Sorry, Guys, It looks like this thread may have come to an untimely death.

I received a ransom note from Photobucket this morning demanding a large sum of money to get my pictures back. I don't think that's going to happen.

Oh no! that's terrible. Upload to the cloud, they said, it will be safe, they said......
That really stinks.

One of the problems when you don't post directly to here. Did you not have them backed up on a disc or thumb drive?

Yes, Mike, I have the pictures backed-up on disc. That's not the problem, the pictures are still there on Photobucket, I can access them but what they've done is disable the links to the photos I've posted on the forums. I've used them for nearly 10 years, free. That's really the only reason I use them, to have a photo hosting site to post on forums. Which means every photo I've posted for the past 10 years is now gone. Now they want $399, a year, for that convenience. That's way too much. It borders on extortion, in my book.

So, I'm exploring other options.

This is another example of corporate greed. And unrealistic for them to go from free to an outrageous fee of ransom ware in my opinion.

Karl, also has been hit with this, and I would guess many others..
I don't use any of these clouds or similar sites. It is worth the few bucks to buy a thumb drive, a good one, 32 or 64 MGs and back up all pics. I don't mind posting directly to the different forums.

Fred, you need to get going on this. We need to see your pics. We will be at a loss until you figure this out'...

This was just a test. Looks like I need to resize my photos.

Terrell,
I like that size. Shows how good you are. Plus you can see the great detail.

Thanks, Ed. I like big pictures, too. But I'm looking at it on a 23" monitor and having to scan back and forth. I think that's a wee bit too big.

I usually try for a file size of 135KB or less. A good rule of thumb is a width of 800 pixels.

Fred, have you tried web-resizer, free program'.
Works great for resizing. The forum likes 800 x 600...the best..

Terrell, Sounds like time to 'kick the bucket'. Nice shot of the store and Texaco sign, glad you could post it.
