Dear friends, I'm sad to announce the heartbreaking news that our friend and fellow modeler Verne Niner passed away of a heart attack on Wednesday, Nov 18. He had been having heart trouble for the passed year. Verne and I were good friends and had worked on many model railroad projects together. His family contacted me by phone and asked that I pass this sad news along to the model railroading community. My heartfelt condolences go to his wife, son, daughter, friends and extended family. Verne, you were one of the best.

I am shocked. Verne was a great modeler and a friend although we had never met. Sad news. Thoughts & prayers for his family.

A sad day in the modeling community.
His layouts of the Arizona desert are second to none. And his threads can thankfully still be seen here on the RRLine.
My sympathies to his family...

Super sad news! My condolences to all of his family & friends. A real loss to the RRLines forums. Though I never had the privilege to meet Verne in person, I've always admired his work and his great sense of humor. Like his Chuckawalla Slim character and his sidekick Jackolope Rocky. And his giant baby chicks adventure. Check out this link to Verne's "Golden Nugget Ranch" to see what I mean. http://sonoragrandeenterprises.com/esgrr/Tales/page38/page38.html I hope you had a peaceful ride into the sunset Verne!
