Getting through mountains and over rivers, streams and gorges has always been a challenge to railroad construction crews. The resulting tunnels and bridges were often spectacular in the real world and are great subjects for modeling.

It has been a while since we have devoted a Gallery Theme to these either of these two topics, and I have been accumulating some great photos. Hopefully others have as well!

Either model of prototype photos are welcome.

I once again caution everyone to keep copyright issues in mind. If you didn't take the picture, it isn't yours to post. Links to photos on the web are allowed, however.

In consideration for those on dial-up, please keep your photos to 80KB or smaller.

Let me kick off the month with this shot from Ted Brandon's On30 Rio Verde layout.

(I figure a shot with a bridge and two tunnel portals is a great way to start the month off.)

Karl, I love the reflection of the train in the water on that prototype photo.

This was my entry in a Railroad Line Forums build challenge. For On30 I was limited to a maximum of 144 sq. inches .. so I went vertical. Just for the heck of it .. that dual gauge track in the tunnel is P48/On30.

Dang, you guys are such fine modellers!!! That concrete portal is spectacular

Here is my most recent image of a diorama I built for outdoors photography showing my Atlas Warren Truss bridge. It's not my own scratchbuild, but...the rest of it is all my creation, including abutments and water.

The server won't let me upload more image files for some reason. Output error, line 13.

Thanks for all the additions, guys.

Crandell, good to see you posting again.

Ed, I remember that build well. It was great seeing it come together.

Ray, the video was a nice addition to the thread.
