Welcome to the Photo Gallery for the second half of July. The theme for this Gallery was suggested to me by Rick, and it will focus on tunnels and tunnel portals. Either prototype or model photos are welcome.

I once again want to caution everyone to keep copyright issues in mind. If you didn't take the picture, it isn't yours to post. Links to photos on the web are allowed, however.

In consideration for those on dial-up, please keep your photos to 80KB or smaller

Here's the Cielo Incline on my Estrella & Sonora Grande RR, which leads to a copper mine high above the tunnel:

There's a face in the rock cut on the far side of the tracks, the locals call it 'La Boca del Diablo', or the Devil's Mouth. The wrecked ore cars discarded near the portal tell the story of a dangerous ride to and from the mine.

My two portal shots for this thread were taken from the rear car of Amtrak's Coast Starlight as it was travelling through the Cascades south of Portland, OR.

Looking a lot like a shot from Pelle Soberg's HO Scale Daneville and Donner River layout:

Another shot for viewing:

If you want to see some diverse and spectacular scenery while taking the train, Amtrak's Coast Starlight, surely will deliver throughout it's entire route from Seattle to Los Angeles.

Regards,

Michael

This is my only work in O scale..... I made some mountains for a guy that required some tunnels...

And my own work on my HO layout...
