I tried his technique of cloud painting but was not satisfied with my results so went with the hazy cloud look instead. I wish I had seen the second video before I painted the backdrop because I like the effect and would have tried it also. Like so many skills the real pros make it look ever so easy and effortless. The results are stunningly beautiful but I suspect that it takes practice, practice, practice, patience, persistence and more practice to get to this level of mastery. I'm in awe. Although I haven't painted any clouds yet (And not sure I dare to:-)) I can also recommend Darryl Huffmans DVD on Easy Backdrop Painting - Mountains and Valleys which has very good chapter on cloud painting.
