Good morning all .. Andy thanks for the coffee ...

"G" / 1:24 scale" I was there once with a big garden layout. Lots of plants, a waterfall with fish pond, and a few buildings. On Saturdays we would go for an early breakfast in Nepean (Ottawa) and then meet at Fred Mills house to run trains. It was in the early days of battery power and R/C. The loco a little 0-4-0 LGB Stantz was powered by two race car batteries. We had great times sharing ideas and helping to build Fred's layout.

Have a great day ....

That must have been fun Tom....I have always liked LGB stuff,
and haveconsidered going into hock for one of the 1:20 Shays....
just testing the water, no outside layout. Good thing to be retired,
the money just got short a bit! LOL!
My project is stationary, just for show.....about 14"track, ballasted,
one RR car and probably some scenery.....That's as far as I
will let on as to what is happening. Next trip to the lake may
or may not bring a sneak preview. ;-)
All have a good day, #3 grandson will arrive here (brooklyn) tonight,
a few days here in the city and then to the lake for a few days. Boy,
am I gonna spoil him!!!!
Stay cool, no stress.......

Good afternoon everyone.

Thanks for the coffee Andy.

Closest I've come to rubber gauging is thinking about building one of my Branchline HO freight car kits to practice some weathering techniques I saw on a youtube video.
Need to finish a few O scale projects first and who knows when that will happen.

As some of you may know i work for the bus division of New Jersey's public transit company.
My goal all along has been to get a position on the RR side of the company.
Been tough to getting my foot in the door.
Finally got the call last week to come in this morning to take the conductors test.
I think I did good enough to pass.
Won't find out for two weeks though.
If I did then I need to go through an interview process.
If I pass that classes would start early next year.
I'll keep you informed of any news.

Have fun with the grandkid Geezer.

Hope everyone has or had a great day.

Rick,

Best of luck. I would think being a moderator would give you some experience as a conductor ...

Joking aside, we are cheering for you.

Congrats Rick!!!!!
Would that be a ticket punch conductor,
or the conductor on a yard/freight crew?
I was one of the later.....At least if
ya are punching tickets, ya aren't out in the cold/rain.
Good luck!!!!

Good evening everyone,

First off, good luck Rick.

Tom, Fred still operates his layout every Saturday during the summer and fall. I've had the pleasure to operate there a couple of times.

Have a great evening everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Jerry.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.
Just wish it wasn't such a long drawn out process.
Geezer, it could be a little of both when you first start.
Being at the bottom of the seniority list you get the jobs no one else wants.
Takes about three years till you have enough time in to start being able to pick and choose what you really want to do.

Hope everyone has or had a great day.

Yeah Rick...I guess you will be riding the "extra board" for a while....
The yardmaster will call you and assign the different job/time to report.
It was about 6 years for me to get off the graveyard shift.....I couldnt'
hold days steady until I had about 14-15 years seniority....

Good afternoon, everyone.

Had an unpleasant surprise waiting for me in the tool box this morning. A bottle of Mike's glue had developed a slow leak. The glue is about a year and a half old. Does the glue attack the bottle? For those more familiar with Mike's glue than I, is this unusual?
