I wasn't going to do a separate thread for this, but I definately won't be finished by the deadline. Detail parts won't be here and I leave for Shanghai and Ningbo China on Wednesday for 6 days.

So...I'll start this now. Originally, it was just going to be a building in a box, but a different theme came to mind.

We all love a certain Ale found in the refridge of the lounge and nobody knows where it's made. Certainly, Bruce has a place big enough to keep up with demand, yet he's never revealed it's whereabouts to anyone. (Well...maybe Bonnie)

After having him followed, ummmm, I was just going the same way, I discovered where this distinctive drink is actually made. A few quick pics and I had my subject to build.

I found a kit that looks exactly like the building Bruce owns. (Wonder if Doug had him followed also?) The box will keep me from going over-board on this one and will hang nicely on the wall.

Hi Marken, I really like your idea of creating a diorama in a box that can be recessed in the wall. I enjoyed reading your story which serves as the motivation for your build. Indeed, Bruce is one heckuva guy! Say, pass me another ale!

Be careful.... We all know that Bruce keeps rabbits. Not so well known is that these are killer-attack rabbits. If you're going to build this edifice, you should have your Book of Armaments within easy reach. Chapter Two, verses 9-21 might be wise to mark as well....

For the record, this kit builds into a nice background structure. I think you'll have fun with it. I did.

Progress so far included bracing all the walls, giving them a brushing of A&I and a coat of Deep Red Rouge. The windows were given a light spray of primer and a coat of Panzer Interior Buff.

After everything was dry, I glued the walls together and installed the windows. I also made up the sign (not done yet)

Deep down, I always knew Bruce was a colorful personality and his choice of colors for the brewery confirms that

I've given the trim a dunking in A&I before a coat of Buff, but installation will have to wait for my return.

Progress follows...whenever I can find time.

Thanks Mike

Guess I'll need to add some rabbit cages to the scene...how big are those brutes Pete?

Questions you don't want the answers for you shouldn't ask!

Actually it's not their size, it's their ferocity....

Love the idea and the model, Ken.

You guys have nothing to worry about as far as the rabbits are concerned.

As I recall there was some 'brew' which used to show up in the lounge every once now and there... and some of the guys used to stash it also. Are you going to have the LP's to work on making more of that brew??? Will we see cases of it on the loading docks?

Will the "proprietor" of this fine establishment (nice job on the build, BTW) be standing on the front stoop wearing that ... umm... "colorful"-- yeah, that's the right word, "colorful" --vest?

The world wonders!

Ken,

Looking forward to watching your progress on this build - you are always so creative and turn out such great models!

Your idea of using a shadow box to display the model is pretty cool, too - something I'd like to try.

Great idea for a build! Bruce that is the most wussy killer rabbit I've ever seen.

Thanks for the kind words everyone

Bruce, is that a tendon he's pulling out of your hand

Snuck a little time in to work on the build. Added the corner posts, shades and curtains to a couple windows.

The 'tabs' at the top of the walls I put on to add some strength to the frieze boards that go on. Will also help getting them on straight.

I think I found a suitable Bruce LP. Will need a couple of changes though

Also, I was struggling with what to do with the wood box as far as a finish goes. But there was an episode of Woodsmith on today that solved that problem. They used Higgins black water based ink on the project they were building and I really liked the results. So, flat black it will be.

Will be back in about a week. Gonna bring some work back home for our local suppliers.

Looks good, Kent. How'd you make the sign?
