I'm onto my last of the three structures of the 2 month challenge. I'm using DPM's Cricket's Saloon. I had originally thought of doing it as a pawn shop, but decided it was a bit small for that. It will now be a tattoo parlour, which is still in keeping with my down by the tracks area, and will go between the Pool Hall and Liquor Store.

I've cut off the chimneys, and here it is together with the mortar colour done-My usual Tamiya Deck Tan

Thanks Andy.
I've got the bricks painted. Just my usual dry brushing method. Now to work out a colour for the front. Probably something a bit bright would be appropriate.

well that depends Rob. some states made tattoo illegal (some i think still are) so shops where a bit underground, often boarded up and run by people who used a working name (something that still sticks around today) so they are able to move quickly and start working again under a different name.

however if you want bright and colourful go for it, these places are run by artists after all, but its worth keeping in mind of styles and trends that have changed over the years, however you cant go wrong with what we old school, but also know as traditional american. designs where plain and colours where limted to a hand full of colours (blues, greens, reds and sometimes purple) that where mostly used to accent the main body of colour, that being black, also shops had (and still have) flash and photo graphs on tattoos in the shop windows. so you can really go to town with the window dressing. :)

the brick work looks good nice colours

Wow, #3 is coming together nicely, Rob. There are a number of tattoo joints in the surround towns here, some in old store fronts. You could get away with almost any paint scheme, depending on era and locale.

Thanks.
I've got the blue colour done. Not to garish, but enough just to brighten it up a bit.

Here's the final finish for the front of the building, except for a sign. I decided to put venetian blinds in this one. They were just made using Excel grids. The window display is some tattoo's I downloaded from the Internet and resized.

Nicely done, Rob. Do you have the location picked out for the three new buildings?
