Arthur, The railbus has some fine lines, doesnt sit too high, the mech fits, and the front lines work.

I like it, but would like it more with less overhang in the front. Dave

We need to bump this thread up so that some other critters that have surfaced can get their proper acknowledgement. A great little thread, but remember it has rules.

Hi guys,
Great thread!
Here's a few from my On30 "critter's" stable:

'Sirius' was my first attempt at 'bashing a steam loco for On30. The donor was a Hornby "OO" scale (4mm to the foot) 0-4-0T which ran like a dream - until I stuffed it up.
Looks OK, now runs like a pig....

'Orion' is another early attempt. The donor is / was a Life Like (?) 0-4-0 which never ran very well in its original HO form.
Runs erratically - when it feels like running at all.....

This silly looking thing started life as a Lima 0-4-0T, and it was a little better runner that the Life Like one above. Only a little, though.
There is so much rear overhang on this one, in order to accommodate the huge motor that fills half of the cab, that I was thinking of adding a set of trailing wheels, just to fill the gap!

This 2-6-2 Prairie Tank was 'bashed from another Lima OO scale unit. Only the cab, stack, headlamp, and domes have been altered. It was always a good runner, back in the 1970s.
Still runs OK, albeit a little bit fast.
Well, that's all for now, blokes.
I have some more old 'bashes somewhere. When I locate them, I'll post 'em!
Cheers!
John

John, great western modellers will be after your blood for the prairie bash. but since i was a southern railways modeller back in the day, i think your bash was the best thing to be done to it :D ;)
regarding those 0-4-0 lifelike/lima chassis, i have a handful of IHC/rivarossi 0-4-0 that i think for the most part are the same (they atleast have the same cyclinders) one runs quite well (the rivarossi one) but the newer IHC one runs with such a wobble its silly, dose ANYONE have any sudgestions?

Hi Andy,
Oz is a long way from the GWR... ...so I think I will be pretty safe!
The problem with the 0-4-0 'waddle' could be the same as for my saddle tank above. Somehow, I managed to get the drivers out of true gauge, so that they are not running parallel ( / \ ) and this causes mine to waddle down the track.
The splines on the old Hornby axles are very fine, and easy to round off....

Hi guys,
A few days later, and time to show some more of my 'bashes.

The Bachmann 0-4-0 Poter with the Gypsy Winch conversion from Backwoods Miniatures. This one also carries their Square Saddle Tank modification.

The Bachmann 0-4-2 Porter with the Backwoods Miniatures Side Tank conversion. A great little kit!

The Backwoods Miniatures Bachmann Forney conversion kit, which creates a delightfully running 2-4-0 Victoria.

My Bachmann "Bumble Bee" Mogul was a nice runner, but a tad too long to fit onto my turntable. I modified it with a shorter pilot, and made it to pull a 'shorty' tender, made up from the leftover bogie (truck) and bunker from my Forney to Victoria 'bash.

This is my 8-ton crane, 'bashed from an old Walther's HO 25-ton unit.

My pride and joy.......... This Gilpin-style Shay two-trucker started life as a Bachmann HO 3-trucker. Dallas M. has excelled himself with this wonderful little Boulder Valley Models conversion kit. Runs like a dream - looks like a winner!
That's all for now, guys.
John
