Bruce,

I took a sprue cutter and made the end cuts. Then, I took a hobby knife with #11 blade and made the cut at the back. I cleaned everything up with a small file.

I glued the pilots to the chassis.

Progress has been slow, as the HO standard gauge group I belong to has set up our modular layout at an area mall. I hope to start applying the louver decals this week, but time will tell.

I have a small HOn30 layout set up at an area mall with the HO standard gauge group I belong to. Last evening, I took my conversion over to see how it would run. It operated well, and looked pretty good running around the layout, even though it's not finished. Bad news - I forgot to bring my camera, so no photos.

And she runs great, too, Bruce. The steps are causing no problems.

Good to hear Jeff! That was my one concern. The little loco looks fantastic.

After a major case of Modeler's ADD, plus a trip to 2 foot gauge country (Maine), I plan to make the final dash to finish this conversion. I will be looking at my Archer louver decals tonight to decide which width will look right on the hood doors. Hopefully, I will have photos of some progress by the end of the weekend.

I'm looking forward to seeing them, Jeff. BTW, any pics from the Maine trip?

Bruce,

Many photos from the Maine trip. It was the Spring Work Weekend at the WW&F museum. I helped realign portions of the mainline. I did get photos of the new dairy car they are building.

Ok, I applied the Archer Transfers louvers to the hood. I started by separating the louvers I wanted to use from the sheet.

Using a hobby knife, I then cut pieces to the size I wanted.

I test positioned the pieces onto the hood.

Satisfied with how it looked, I soak the decals in warm water and applied them to the hood.

Once I felt the decals had enough time to set, I applied the louvers to the other side.

Here are a couple side views of the temporarily assembled loco, showing the louver detail.
