Hi there, as my other thread was named freelanced BCR subdivision I start a new thread after I have finaly got a red line for what I´m building. This is a short overview: I´ll build the Dawson Creek subdivison. It´ll be an two level layout around the walls of my basment.I want to start with a compressed version of the Chetwynd yard with a part of the wye departing East maybe over the East Pine River through the Helix to the upper level and the Howe Truss Bridge over the Kiskatinaw River to Dawson Creek with it´s grain elevators etc. The layout will be HO scale and time period will be late 60´s up to the early 70´s. So I´ll be able to go with the late Pacific Great Eastern and the early British Columbia Railway livery.Maybe I´ll paint a loco in the old PGE orange with the green stripe. Just started with the Chetwynd yard and roughly layed some tracks for it.
Starting from the southend with station(placeholder)and a small diesel servicing area.Mainline is third from the station. On the left side with the woodchipcar is spur to Canfor Mill.It ends on the wall. The right track on the bottom of the picture is the track for the TOFC Ramp.

Following north through the yard heading to the wye for Dawson Creek Sub.
The mainline will go north to Fort St.John....okay,on my layout it ends here For the Yard I use an original map found on the BCRailwayModellers Yahoo Group and on Tim Hortons British Columbia Railway Dawson Creek Subdivision in N-scale Homepage http://www.bcrdawsonsub.ca/ That´s all for now,Update will follow soon.. Any Tips and comments are very welcome.
Thanks for looking, Chris

Hi there, I made a drawing for the Chetwynd Station.I used the dimensions Tim Horton noted on his N-scale Dawson Creek Subdivision hompage.
. I will build a base structure from wood and then use Balsa for the clapboard and board and batten sidings. But first I have to make two more drawings from the sides of the station. More will follow with the start of building it. Thanks,Chris

The Dawson Creek area is a great one for scenery, hunting, coal production, etc. I wish you well with this.
Cheers!

Hi there, Thanks for the comments. Today I started with the structure for the Chetwynd station.I used some wood sheets I bought some time ago on a base structure. It worked out nice so I got most of it done.I drawed the doors and windows on it.Have to look what I could find in the partsbox.

I´ll cut the openings for the doors and windows later.Next thing is to finish the station and to paint and stain it.

Hi there, My best wishes for 2013 for everybody... It´s been a very long long time since Ive posted here...A lot of fine modelbuilding is going on here and finally I got new inspired to go back to my railroad..The last time I worked on it was in summer last year and I started a general overhauling of tracks etc...Made more resarch and rearranged the trackwork in Chetwynd/BC to match the available space...

So does it look for the rest of last year until I get back to it around christmas last year and continually worked on it. Put fascia on and painted it,mounted some very nice LED strips for lightning,I still have to mount it on the upper level.

The rear track will go down to staging, the track in front will go up through the helix to the upper level

I also started scratchbuilding the Chetwynd freighthouse next to the station.I subscribed to the Yahoo BCRailway Modeller Group and found a lot of prototype pictures etc... I finished the wire and Bluepoint switches for the first turnouts and also wired some track and hope to be finished with that by the end of the week...After that I´ll testdrive some trains and when it works fine I´ll start with some scenery work on this part....
And arranged some track and structures on the Dawson Creek part of the layout (upper Level)

I have to kitbash or scratchbuild most of the structures....There is still some benchwork and the Helix to build.... Any comments and tips are very welcome.. Thanks for looking, Cheers,Chris

Chris, I like what I see so far, nice work! I also visited your web site and surfed around, unfortunately I don't understand the language. I can see that you and I have ventured into the same parts of the different branches of the hobby world.

Hi, Ralph, that sounds nice. The hobby world has so much different branches but actually I prefer the Railroad building and also driving vintage cars in the summer. My 1:24/1:25 modelbuilding comes to a stop...so I sell most of that things, cars, trucks, airplanes and tanks etc. to focus on the modelrailroad building. I have finished wireing the first section of the layout, the Chetwynd yard area and could run the first trains...so it was a milestone for me and I started immediately with a little bit of scenery..so I´ll post some pictures later today..
Regards,Chris

Chris, I'm just getting caught up on your thread. You've been making good progress. How do your trains get from one level to the other?
Is your Chetwynd Station going to be open on the isle side so you can see in it?

Chris,
You mention using some nice LED lighting strips. Do you have the information on who makes them and what they might look like?

Bruce, I bought the strips on Amazon Germany. They come in different lenght with powersupply and controller...60 LED per Meter coldwhite SMD-LED....I´ve tested some other strips but the light wasn´t what I wanted so I get beck to the ones I bought first...They cost about 110,-€ for 10 Meter complete but it´s worth the money...

So finally here are some updates on my layout. As I wrote earlier the wireing for Chetwynd yard is finished and I had some short trains running...all worked nice so I´m very happy...

Next part was the route going north to Fort St.John and Fort Nelson(hidden 2 track staging)and the route to Dawson Creek...
Left track down to staging, right track up to Dawson Creek via the grain elevator at Tremblay and the up through the helix to the upper level.

Trains are running up to the elevator and to the staging...I have to rework some parts of the benchwork because I want a return loop on the staging level below the helix. When that is finished I can lay the entrance to the helix. Next part will be on the upper level the Bridge over Kiskatinaw River and the River scene and the following tracklaying into Dawson Creek... So finally things going on... Regards,Chris
