Mario,

These pictures were taken on JJ Johnson's Puget Sound Iron Goat Railroad. It has grown even better in the years since you took these photos. Last month it was on the cover story in Railroad Model Craftsman magazine. JJ's layout will be open at the National Narrow Gauge Convention in Seattle in September.

Here is a link rto more recent photos"

Paul Scoles' Pelican Bay Railway and Navigation Co. will be open as well as several dozen other layouts.

See you there!

Mario and Larry,
While your in Vancouver, make sure you visit the Marine & Railroad museum on Granville island, it's absolutely amazing. The have a huge West Coast O scale layout that will blow you mind.
If I can find the photos or the link I'll post it for you.
Mario, if you're coming this far you have to get to Skagway and ride the WP&YRR, it's a must.
Ralph

Mario,

Here is another one of the layouts that will be open at the Narrow Gauge Convention in Seattle - Ken Larson's On3 "Westside Lumber". I don't think I took you there. This is a wonderful layout. It is in the 2011 edition of "Great Model Railroads" which came out last month

Ralph. I've decided to use Seattle as a home base and hope to travel to a couple of RRL member suggestions during the stay by Train, Boat or Plane. .

Thanks for the feedback

I wonder how many modelers have actually registered to date ?

Did I mention that the models at the BC Forest Center were built by Jack Work? That alone made it a 'pilgrimage' for me, Jack Work was a huge influence on me.

I see there is a floor plan listed, showing the location of traders. Great idea.

Just wondering if the traders are going to be closed during layout tours, as has been done in the past. I personally would give up a few hours doing the layout tours, to explore the trade stands, at the same time without having to miss out on some of the clinics being conducted. So much to see and do in just four days, especially if one has travelled a few miles to get there.

DZ,
Do you have a website for the Steamers? Do you know when they would be open during the convention?

thx

And think. The state is still seriously broke, as high as the taxes, ferry fees, fuel tax, and now bridge tolls.

Sorry you won't be joining us Craig - it's going to be a great convention in one of the most beautiful cities in the country.

Carnival has a cruise leaving the 4th and returning the 11th to Seattle. In Skagway on Friday which leaves option for 4 hours ride to summit (diesel) or Steam Engine. So you can have your cake and eat it too. Course you'd miss Mt. Ranier but I think it is fully booked. Interesting enough Carnival excursion price is only a little more than the price from White Pass and Yukon for the ride to summit.
