Being up to our eye balls in cukes right now, and having made a batch of sweet & tangy pickles today, I look forward to the next installment of the Pickle Saga.
(BTW, I found out yesterday the the B&G plant in Roseland, NJ is still being served by the Morristown & Erie RR - no pickle cars any more, however.)

Pretty perceptive Pete. Perhaps "Preacher is the 'Perp'. I pray the pickle police provide a paddy wagon ride to the pokey.

They're currently participating in the pursuit of the protagonist(s) in the perpetual purloining of packages from the pickled pepper processing plant on the periphery of the purple packaged pickle packing plant....might be named Preacher...phew...
Said to be pretty pooped out... I think they need to take a "P"

Yeah. We sure are getting lazy this year.
Anyway, the July car finally arrived on the Sugar City, Colorado Division of the New Haven RR yesterday.
Here it is in the 'new' New Haven yard being moved by recently placed back in service (flood survivor with a new Tsunami 539T decoder) Alco S2 #0615 in the original NH 'delivery scheme' working the interchange track.

Here's a photo of the L&N car getting ready to be classified into a local going to Meriden, CT and the Long's Stone and Gravel Co. for loading.

Just a note on the basement 'rain forest effect' that occurred in May. The large plastic tub in the background of the first photo is where the bulk of my engine fleet currently resides. I have 7 engines back on line with the S2 being the most severely damaged by water. It got the worst soaking. If it's working the rest will come faster because it was in the middle of a Tsunami install when it happened. The decoder is fine. I have to take each engine apart and clean the wheel pickups and lube everything else. The water here has a lot of alkali in it and it leaves a white powdery residue on the contacts when it dries. That is what takes so long. I've been using CRC 2-56 for the electrical lube and denatured alcohol for cleaning. The bodies get a scrubbing with distilled water and soap to take off the water spots then rinsed in distilled water. It's cheap. Since I now have a working R/O water system I may try that to see if it works. All the engines will get 'shopped' and updated with improved wiring (mostly soldering the wire to the pickups instead of relying on those plastic clips holding a wire on the truck pickups).
More photos to come.

Well Simon, . .I'm definitely on schedule here; the photo shoots have been completed and I'm presently in the editing process with some ideas for finishing the story! I can tell you this much though: Last Saturday, just after daylight, Northbound Train #57 made an unscheduled stop at the South end of the Willamette Valley. Clinging to the roof of one of the railcars was a large tarpaulin which was blocking the conductor's forward view. Prior to that stop, and while the train was still under the cover of darkness, several of the engines' crew members report- ed seeing some strange lights towards the back of the train. It shouldn't be long now before the case of the proprietary proverbial psychic prudently planned puckish pickle perpetra- tors is solved.

Good to see Bill able to post. I do like the S2, my Q Blackbird scheme from Atlas was my very first US loco. Allen looking forward to your photos. Crispy and I are feeling a bit left out. No sightings of our car since May and we have not received a car yet in July.

Funny how real life gets in the way of playtime...
The Great Lakes and Eastern car was recently seen in the mountains on a Southbound manifest freight.

Here it enters the river bridge as a cut of new UP cars passes on the line below.

Some days later the local is seen picking up the BS car

Here the local makes a brake check as the local PD keeps an eye out for traveling pair of pickle poachin' pikers purported to be passing.

Later the local is seen passing Kentucky Southern Challenger #2002 as the local heads to the yard where the next train North to Illinois will be made up.

Fellow Interchangers, . .Just a note to let you know that my wife is ungoing some medical problems and evaluations, so this month's posts may be a little late. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
Karl, . .The pickle car left Portlandland Sealed just before noon today and it is scheduled to arrive there in Michigan within the next few days. Please let me know when it does. Thanks!
