thanks john. and with some of the more "musical" members of the club we often have a surplus of it :P
so i caved and brought one of those tamiya bulldozer kits. as everyone has said, one of the nicest kits ive put together, all the parts fitted well and look great (the tracks are brillant)
isnt it neat? thats maybe an hour or so of work, but i wonder, what will it look like on the fishbelly flat car?
mhmmm that looks good to me, but wait.... how am i going to paint it?
so i lent it to one of the silent film stars, and this happened as soon as he put the key in....

the kit is designed well enough to leave it in groups of sub components for ease of painting.
now i have to deside between yellow or gray. (i think gray though)
also, at the show over the weekend i picked up a british wagon kit, a dogfish i think, only a few quid. mostly for the hopper body.

looks like something i could work with :D thats about it for now, been weathering the frijolene tank body, trying to go with a desert "dry" rust, it looks ok, but needs some more.

Hi again Andy,
I like the 'dozer, mate.
I also like the little hopper on the back of your flat car.
What brand is that Dogfish kit?
Thank you,
John

so, ive been trying to get a dry rust look on the tank car, i think i am getting there. needs some other muck and filth and dust and what not. but im quite pleased so far, just to clarify, i had some problems with another makers decals, not the frijolene set.

also added paint to the 4 wheel caboose, nothing to post here, im keeping it with the 4 wheel boxcar build thread to save confusion.
also got to see the stock boxes that the layout will end up sitting on, they look great, will take photos once i take delivery of them. will be nice to clear my shelves of stock thats gathering dust and into somewhere clean and safe.
also took this photo, not a place one would be able to get a snap from with the boards joined.

also, shamefuly, ive been thinking about an extension. only dreams so far, but by use of a blackbox (a fiddle yard between two scenic boards) modelling an other end of a branch off the line. however i fear space may be the main problem maybe, however when my brother collects all the baby stuff in the room, or if i sort out a failed half finished layout. however keeping with in the the size i think i may still struggle with my plans ( building fronts, main road, railroad, as it seems to be the norm for a railroad going into a town in the midwest)
who knows, only ideas, ive just spent over a year of near solid work to get the layout to this stage, im not goin gto be in a rush to do the same again :P

so here are the stock boxes come layout supports

Syd did a cracking job on these, very VERY luckly, out of the two trays i gave him, one was a compleat one off with a little square at one end, while the other, was one of 3 that had a base slightly inset, both gave a slightly loose fit, the rest all 11 had a much wider base that i didnt notice, very luckly they are a tight fit, otherwise it would have been back to wilkos to see if i could find more with the smaller base. strange that they where different being the same size, brought at the same time. oh well. been filling them up, packing stock the best i can, so far ive only filled 3 draws with 1 with just one car in.
need to build more stock

he dose do very nice work indeed, including a number of baseboards for other club members and the on30 club layout and not forgetting the long bridge for it. he'll have a display of some of his models at our show, so i'll grab a couple photos then, its rather nice.

Nice dozer and I really like the "down the track" shot. There is so much going on the the corners of the buildings and the vegetation. Very real looking.

Hmmm....kitty litter trays...leaking tank cars filled with Frijolene...your layout is not only looking great, it is on its way towards becoming a toxic site!
Looking good, amigo, love that bulldozer...gotta get me one!
