i agree that the one with fibers isnt the "best" tree in the world, granted its a horrid photo and it dose need more plucking/hair cuts (parting to the left sir?) however once covered in foam/leaves it'll look a ton better, i took a photo this morning useing just my tea leaves to give an idea very very roughly what it'll look like, plus now that ive seen that a few oaks can hold onto their leaves quite well (more so i want an early autumn look, so for the oak, mostly green, just starting to tellow off etc) means it should still hopefuly hide the corner quite well.

pictures once ive fully woken up

1st a haircut and trimed tree. ive just notice one of the limbs at the top must have been knocked at some point as its facying up rather then sticking out where that black space is near the top

a figure eye veiw

this is the hair covered in tea leaves, just a test bit

also while i had the layout down yesterday i stuck down the two loading dock frames and started fixxing the fencing, thus far only the little back pice that runs from the garge yard to the corner of the farm supply store, the longer section running towards the front of the layout and the smaller one in front of the model T, the longer one on the right is only temp held inplace by its little brass pin i fixxed last week

and here is the fright shed's loading dock

and its a photo like that that shows just how bare a layout looks before anyones come around and planted some grass and bushes :P

cheers guys.
other little prodject in mind more about that latter

while ago when the club i belong to hired the hall we meet in for the weekend i stuck together the main pats of a loco kit from chivers.

it has basicly sat in its box since while i got on with other projects, it came out a few weeks later to be run in (runs on a tenshodo spud, if you've used one you know how much it needs to be run in) and anyway, during the weekend i was looking about for something to do and picked this up again. ive added handrails and handles, ive desided not to use the stock headlamp as its HUGE (would suit a nice moderen steam loco though) and changed it for one from my bits box, pretty sure its a backwoods minatures part.

started painting the cab parts as well as the cab, my normal cab green of a mix of lighten tamyia cockpit green with JN green (i think i had to poor it out into an empty jar so i have not go the number or name) mixed in, makes (to my eyes) a nice shade of green that you seam to find on the inside of locos cabs. as well as some of the controls.

the roof is loose and the bonnet top is loose too, so excuse the large gaps :P

as for outside colour, i was thinking rockisland maron with white hand rails and windows

Nice loco, Keep the Green and Gray, and just weather the gray with standard AI washes of gray, aged rust and rust..and you would be surprised how neat it looks. I can send you what I did with a Bachmann Gas Mech and its surprising how neat it is.

For headlight use styrene tube at size for LED or the caps off of a those disposable ball point pens. Cut them off insert LED and whiz bang you have light. I think alot of the headlights are too big. Dallas has parts that are just right with visors.

feel free to post it here les, im open to ideas since i dont have a pot of rock island maron to hand :) its was quite hard to keep myself from painting the whole thing in my cab green mix. but alas i have plans for that kinda colour on a couple other loco ideas i have floating around ;)

Andy
Here is a project that only was painted a gray color, and I used just 3 colors of AI stain.

I have since gone back to the loco for convention and added a visor to the light and painted it. This loco had a basic gray color and the rest is AI washes.

Hi Andy,

Another nice little Andy-job. I like what you have done with the petrol mechanical body.

I have one of the BM 'dress up' kits here for one of mine, but I haven't started on it yet. As usual, I will use your posts as an inspiration.

I also agree with you on the SPUD - it takes a fair bit of running in to get them to run smoothly...

I don't know if you have heard of the Aussie-built 'Black Beetle' and 'Black Bug' from SEM, but I run a few of them on various 'bashes that I have done, and they all run like a charm, straight from brand new. Also excellent low-speed capability, even on ordinary old DC.

Try this link:

I also notice that Vicky got a paw or two into your pics again....

I will keep on following your posts with interest, Andy mate.

John.

Very nice work on the loco, Andy. I am very impressed every time I see the finish you get on models, rolling stock or buildings and details.

thanks guys!

john yeah, if you notice shes gone from the 2nd photo when i turned the box she kept sniffing it every time i took a photo so was moved to the floor :P
yeah we have blackbeetles here. they cost more, so most of the time i just use spuds since alot of the kits ive built that use them say to fit spuds, i have another chivers kit in my draw (the freelance GEC, its HUGE) that says to use a blackbeetle, ive heard they are niced but yet to use one

nice job les, it dose look nice, but i am still leaning towards a maron colour

thanks patrik and frederic!
