I like the looks of those signs indeed Pat. I was originally going to have the sign suspended by chain from the cross beam under the wheel, and if so then I would have gone with your first pic.
It will appear shortly on another structure I have planned out, possibly for an 'Ole Opry' talent agency, if I run out of things to do when this one is finished......
I'll do some mock-ups and see how they look for the other two. Thanks for the ideas!

I'll stick your 2c in my change jar, for safe keeping, if you dont mind

Yes Sir !! And that one is at the top (almost) of the list. Maybe if Mr. O'Neill can tear himself away from making/fixing wheels he'll join me in a build thread and I can learn a thing or two.

Yipes Karl, miss a couple of days and I almost missed the rest of the build.
I really like the sign. It was typical of the era to have a "picture" of the "product" as a lot of people at the time couldn't read.

Thanks Ron.
Still quite a bit to come yet though, especially since it evolved from a 'quickie' build to an... experimental one. Structure is essentially finished though. Just details...
Made and installed the rear door and window and finished off a couple of other minor things.

Boo-hoo, the roof isn't shiny and pretty anymore!
Open window on the lean-to is a nice touch ... door there could use a knob ... (I wouldn't have looked that close, but the open window made it interesting)
Kudos for detailing the back of the false front ... likewise, the discoloration at the bottom of the siding boards looks nice and natural.

That would be one of those 'details' alluded to in the previous post, ya know, one of those things that keep getting knocked off everytime you pick it up to do something else..

This has taken you over a week to build. Next thing you know, we’ll see you building at the same pace as the rest of us.
I like the rusting roof. What does the shed roof look like?

Actually, I'm not quite "sold" on the roof ... and sorta dreading doing my own when the time comes ... so I've got no expertise to offer there.
But, to my eye it needs something ... not quite sure what. Ridge cap definitely looks a little too consistent in color. Best guess is that some streaks of gray (perhaps several shades) over the red-browns would do the trick in muting those slightly and tying things together. Chalks or thin paint wash would do, little at a time. Gouache would be even better as far as "experimenting" goes. Cuz you could seal the existing color first, hit it with gouache, then wash/wipe that off it doesn't look good.
Again, not quite sure what it is ... but overall impression is that it looks a bit "harsh" to me, whereas the siding and all have a more muted, natural look to my eye. As always: adapt, apply or disregard at will!
EDIT: Thought about this a touch more ... if you do go with streaks of gray, I'd suggest several shades of COOL gray which would play nicely against the warm red/orange/brown rust tones. Just an idear.

Karl,
I like the open window all you need is a little stick to hold it up
I am with Dallas, I can not do roofs.
I still think a ridge cap like this would look better

Anyway Your building is AWSOME!

crap actually, I have enough trials going on for now....

As for your initial comment.... I'm slowing down in my old age, smelling Rose's and such... Dont ask who Rose is..
I just slapped some black paper on the rear shed for now, and even worse I just stuck some greasy fingers all over it because I'm cooking while I stopped in to check the forum and took a quick pic for you.... anyways the oven just 'dinged' so other replies later..

Karl!...Did'nt your mother teach you not to handle your models while cooking? I think the metal roof looks great! Perhaps a better ridge cap like Larry suggested, would make it look Super Great! Now...stop smelling Rose and do something quick! Before Dallas has a chance to think of the thing he can't quite put his finger on.
