Have a look at the top vehicle on this page, a 1939 Buick saloon car that Canadian Pacific adapted for rail use

Hi Neil, thanks for digging up the history of this beautiful inspection car. Car M235 now resides at Exporail just south of Montreal and it is in top notch condition!
Here I am wishing I was a railroad employee from back in the day standing beside this four wheeled beauty!

Neil,

You're right. That is a classy inspection vehicle, as are some of the others in that link.

While not in the same league, here is a Ford Bronco inspection vehicle that I snapped back in May. Although there are no markings, I believe it belongs to the Black River and Western RR since it is next to their tracks.
