Good news! Captain called Mike Burgett of CTC parts. He said the screw in the front is decorative to represent the real thing. Mike told captain to look and he would find a tiny allen screw. So it looks like as soon as I can hook up with the captain, we will have levers.

Captain dropped off the levers last night. Now we need the right size allen wrench.

So, are those new panels installed on the machine yet?

No, captain stopped by with member Joe Travia to help him decide on what to model and in what scale. He is leaning toward the Lackawanna (maybe in the Scranton area) in the mid to late 50's. PS, He sent me a private e mail this AM that he is moving in HO.
I need to get captain over to install them. Joe Travia suggested I stop by Radio Shark to get an allen wrench for the levers. I stopped by one and found a set that contained the right one. So tonight after a dip in Lake DeBlasi I will install the levers.

Bill is working on the signal problem at OS137. I have to get some test results back to him tonight. Hopefully that will help. I installed the two levers at OS 137. Beats vice grips!
I worked on cleaning the basement yesterday. The boys from Port-a-rail are stopping by for a visit on the 18th. The basements a disaster!

A week ago the captain and I mailed my digital camera to Cannon USA for repair. Today it arrived back at no charge. I paid nothing to ship it either. They replaced the lens module on my 4 year old powershot A95 at no cost. I'm amazed and happy as all hell. Now thats customer service!

That's pretty cool that Cannon supported their product so well! No charge? Can't beat that! So now we need pictures!

Thanks Mark. I can always count on you for, ah, er, pressure! Bill sent me a request to send him some test results on other signals. He can't duplicate what's happening on my computer when his puter works fine. He is working diligently on the problem though.
He has been making suggestions that will really increase the play value of this thing. I envision people bidding on this job once it's done!
I hope to complete those tests today, then work on clenaing the basement! If we can get the signals at Rockport working, I will finish that installation and move on to OS 131 (Penn Haven)

I installed about 10 of the levers. Man that makes things a whole lot easier. Thank Joey!
Bill has had me running some test procedures. looks like I had a bad alligator clip that was giving us some false readings. Port A looks like it might be working properly. That controls the signals at Rockport.
Port B I have not been able to get the green indication. Bill is checking that out.
We might be at the point where I can move the SMINI downstairs and re try hooking stuff up to see if it works.

I decided to move the SMINI back down on the RR to see if I could get OS 137 working. If I can, I have met my goal of trying to get 1 OS working by MER Princeton Jct.
First I took a Radio Shark experiment card and installed 4 variable 500 ohm pot's and the 4 fixed 150 ohm resistors for the green aspect. The pot is so you can adjust the yellow aspect. This made it very neat and easy to mount on the back side of the panel. I had some green stranded wire, so I hooked the green wire that should go to the green pin and the red wire to the red pin. The convention being used here is the red is being wired to the lowest pin or bit.
Here is a picture.

I made the conections to signal 1371, the westbound home signal. Everything worked as it should, at least to my eye. With the switch lever thrown to normal, I get green over green. With the switch lever reverse or the signal lever in stop or traffic right, I get a red over red.
Here is the home signal 1371 westbound at Rockport. I have the turnout reversed, so the signals have dropped down to red. Next to install the eastbound signal and the OS will be complete except for the dwarf on # 2 track.

I still have a minor problem in that the code button and I think the manual control will not work. I am running the program in diagnostic mode, not normal, which enables those functions.
When I try to run in normal, I get a MAXTRIES error. I need to change some variables on a test basis to see if I can fix that. Bill has been advising me on how to do it, but success has been elusive.

Conrail Bill deserves a lot of the credit. Without him, I don't know if I could have gotten here.
