Nice pictures Andy. From the sounds of the weather forecast up here in Maine we could use some of that coal tomorrow night. Low's of 40.
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Word from the yardmaster, 'Fingers Foley', at Knox Yard we seem to have a new arrival in the Valley. Word is a young fellow was seen hopping off the car when it crossed the yard limits. I'll try to get some pics this weekend of what's going on.

Seems 'Fingers' Foley was right. I was out with my camera this morning looking for some early fall foliage pictures when I saw this Seaboard 40' boxcar come around the bend.

I'm guessing I was one of the few in the Valley who didn't know about our latest visitor from away judging by the welcoming committee gathering at the Tavern in the background of this picture.

Here are some pics of the folks waiting for our traveller...front and center Officer Jones and Chief Xavier Lax (make jokes about his name at your own peril). I'm sure they are there to find out what the young fellows intentions are while he's in the Valley.

If you look closely at this picture you'll send a couple of the local womenfolk hoping to cook the young fellow a hot supper...and maybe more.

I was headed home when I was able to snap this picture at the Upper Valley back road. Seems like the young fellow passed up the ladies offer, at least for now.

Since it looked like he was in deep conversation with someone up the dirt road I hopped over to the other side of the tracks to see who it was. None other that our good buddies Turtle and Preacher!!!

One can only wonder what they were talking about.

To be continued....

Dave

The Seaboard car showed up in the mail John.

Andy, Your Seaboard car will be involved in the upcoming Rocky Ops this weekend as my layout is among the 6 others that will host ops sessions this weekend.

We interrupt this quiet time with a late breaking news flash!

Head lines! 'Seaboard double door 40 foot box car sighted on the New Haven Rail road During Rocky Ops 2010 in Sugar City, CO.'

News crews were at the scene of 'TOO MUCH FUN' during the bi-year (every two years) Rocky Ops South 2010 operation meet held at the home of one Bill Shanaman in Sugar City, CO. on Sunday September 19th, 2010. The visiting interchange car from Railroad-Line Forums Interchange Group belonging to Andy Keeney of Dewitt, MI. a Seaboard Air Line 40 foot double door boxcar #23164 was spotted traveling the New Haven in two trains this day!

The SAL car was first spotted in northbound train GA4 as it rode north to Middletown Yard from New Britain Staging. Here we see the first shot of the car as it rounded 'Pawquasette Curve' outside of Higganum, CT. enroute to Middletown yard. (notice the 'Sleeping Giant State Park' mountain in the background)

Later that same day the SAL car was spotted going southbound on the 'Lower Valley Local' NX33 in the town of Essex, CT.

We finally caught up with the car spotted for loading at the Todd Printing Co.

We now take you back the quiet time on the Interchange Forum.

Nice shots and nice text, Bill! Too bad we can't get Walter Winchell to narrate the text!

Loving the pics John & Bill. It's always great to get a glimpse or two or three of the Interchange layouts with the cars on them.

This month was a two-fer,,
We had caught some shots of SU-2 dropping off the correct hopper after last months debacle with grits. This time the WP covered hopper was the long waited delivery. Also we caught some flats with roll off loads comming into the team track at Unadilla. Some neat looking trailers were part of the consist.

Cheers!, Joe

Nice pictures Joe!
A word of advice...don't send that flat with the tractors on it out on the Interchange next year. I can guarantee you they won't make it through the Valley. Pretty sure Preacher & Turtle would have those babies off and running at the first chance. Tractor pulls are big around the Valley you know.
