I was going to post this in the Classroom thread but I see it's locked.
I know I've seen Christopher's powered stripwood cutter but I needed something fast this weekend to cut some boxcar roofwalks. Did a little Google-ing and found a reference to one built by Dave D. After a couple of e-mails I had the diagram. The previous writer said it took Dave D. an hour to make this and that's pretty close to what I spent.

So I took Dave's pictures from above, did some rough measuring and scaling and went to the workshop. I had some left over mahogany so I used scraps and made up this one. A groove cut in the end of the slider holds the blade from rotating while cutting.

The overall height is 1 ½"; width is 2"; length is 6". From that you can put one together in less time than it takes to write this and post the photos.
Thanks to Dave Deno, just another friendly member on RR Line.

Nice tool Dave. I've got a small commercial one from X-acto, but your homemade one looks like its got better control over the work being done.

Very clever design, Dave. I'll save this file to make a version of your tool.

Dave Necessity is the Mother of Invention and your stripwood cutter sure looks like it will easily do the trick. Peter

Way to go, Dave! I like it a lot.

Thanks all, but it was Dave D's plan that got it done for me.
