I have been hangin around for more than a year without anywhere to start my mrr dreams...Finally, I have my own space and lumber will be here tomorrow. Just a couple of shots of the new area.

Above is the new work area which will birth everything for the layout, going forward. You can see some of the goodies Santa left for me.

This is the "short side of the layout, which will have a "Lift out" across the door, a long low (window height) stretch ending at a return loop and mountain scene that will either be the sawmill area or a mining area to be determined later.

This is the "long side of the layout (20') that will have a dog bone loop, sidings and what ever else I will put there. Off the loop, there will be a spur that crosses the door lift out leading to a fiddle yard/programming area. It's about a 8-9' section between the doors.
Tomorrow, I will begin work on the long side and dogbone area....Stay tuned!
As always, comments & suggestions appreciated...
Here we go!

Forgot - The hole in the wall at the far end is for the flue for a wood burnbing stove located in the family room....and, yes, the room is nice and comfy.....heated floor.

Wow Geezer, what great space to start a model railroad. Seeing the finished room I can see that it was worth the wait. I love the workbench area, great view of the lake. Only concern I have is with that view of the lake not much modeling will get done.

Bill, looks like you have prepared the room well!
Hope you were able to power all your electrical receptacles through one or two switches for safety's sake.

Geezer,

I am impressed. What an awesome site for your railroad.

You will enjoy your work area over looking the lake. I have spent many hours at the kitchen table, modeling and enjoying our view.

Long live the Wilani Lumber and Mining Company from the Vincent Lake Short Line.

Thanks all for the encouragement!!!
I will do my best to honor your expectations!
John : There are 4 outlets on the long wall, just
dont show up in the picture. I made sure I have
plenty power, and it's on two separate circuits.
Thanks again Guys!

What a nice space to work and build a layout in.
It will be a pleasure watching you fill in that blank canvas.
