Thoughts and ideas gents? i have spent the day reading pros and cons of both...
concensus seems to be with insul frogs due to no shorting issues with dcc.. my problem is the 11/16" gap in power... i have 3 porters and a few 0-4-0 diesels that may not like that gap... i know they have trouble with an atlas 30* crossover... even the 2-6-0's without tender pickups stumble....
thank you.
Chris.

and the other question, where is a prefered place to buy? i am thinking peco since there is only about 15% more in price than HO atlas...
my local(30 minutes away) hobby shop only carries atlas and is mostly geared towards R/c equipment, they will order what i want, but you know......

Chris,
Go with the electrofrogs if you are using porters and 0-4-0's.

I vote Electro (live) frogs ..... I.M.O.

I have 4 Porters, 2 - 0-4-0 side rods and a couple of black beetles and bugs that would not put up with insulated (dead) frogs.

Go with Electro Frogs. Just gap them and then power the frog. There are lots of ways to control and change the frog polarity.

Electro frogs. Live frogs are always better than dead ones.

My preference is for Peco rather than Atlas. There is often a problem with the Atlas Flangeways not being deep enough for some Wheelsets - to the extent where the Wheelset is lifted from contact with the Rails, thus loosing power & stalling.
