I've read some of the articles on building your own windows and found some excellent tips.
I just wanted to point out the correct terminology so we all understand what we're writing about.
This is not to be critical of anyone as this terminology even confuses builders and contractors.
Basically, the term MUNTIN is used to describe the wood piece separating and holding each pane of glass http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muntin
and the term MULLION describes a structural vertical component holding two window assemblies together http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mullion
So generally when we talk about the "grilles" in a window we are referring to the Muntins.
I've learned a lot from members here and only offer this to be helpful, not critical of anyone.

Well I have learnt something today. I always thought a mutin was sheep meat.
