Vagel,

The fascia is looking great with the carpet, it gives it a nice finished look.

Thanks, Ron.

Here are a couple pictures I took today after trimming the carpet to follow the contour of facia, cutting out the opening for the small reverse loop control panel, and labeling the car card holder and sorting rail:

I blend the exposed edge of the hardboard and the white backing of the carpet with Glidden "Deepest Forest Green."

Lookin' good! It's really nice to see the furnace complex coming together. Maybe we can get the rest of the carpet installed this coming Wednesday.

Enjoy your bike ride today.

The facia looks great. I like the idea of a local track schematic on the car card box.

Thanks, guys. By the way, did you notice the car card holder is two bays short? I need two more for the INTerchange tracks. I think, since the sorting rail is 30" long (way more than we need at this location) and there will never be more than two or three cars on either track at one time, we can put a couple partitions in the end of that to make car card holders for those tracks.

I like the way the track schematic turned out, although it's a bit busy. Turn about 120 degrees to your left in the close up view, and there's a need for that at Tascott, as well. There I think I'll put the schematic on the sorting rail, to avoid having to remove and replace all the labels that are already on the card holders and in the way of a schematic. Fortunately the control panels for the Tortoise machines at Buchanan and Cowans Gap double as schematics. Chambersburg is probably going to require a dedicated "model board" due to its complexity.

Looking good Vagel! That carpet fascia idea is unique and sure looks nice. And you can hang throttles from it too! As for the track diagram on the card boxes, that's another great idea. Most layouts have a card box, and then maybe a track diagram someplace, but having it all in one spot is a well thought out approach. I like it!

Very nice place, Vagel. The furnace complex is a fine big industry, and your control panel is very neat. Always a pleasure to follow the progress on your layout.

Vagel,

Now the fascia is looking like a piece of well designed furniture. I too really like the track diagrams on the car card boxes, it puts everything in one place.

The fascia and track schematic look very nice to me. How are the turnouts going to be controlled? The track schematic seems the obvious place for controls (or labels if they are DCC controlled from the throttles). Or are they controlled from the layout?

Built a waterfront HO layout in Ireland http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=22161 but now making a start in On30 in Australia

Ground throws; MicroEngineering turnouts don't require powered frogs via switch machines.

Oh, how disappointing. I was SO looking forward to wiring a bunch more Tortoises. (Is there an Emoticon for "sarcasm"?)

The diagrams et.al. look really good.
