Since December, 2002, Railroad-Line has had a long and highly respected tradition of hosting "construction" threads for a wide variety of craftsman-level kits and related products. Unfortunately, recent misunderstandings concerning the nature of "construction/build" threads and the basic forum rules governing "commercial" announcements and other forms of unpaid advertising have led us to revise our posting policies. Therefore the following posting policies go into effect immediately:

1. Test-build threads (aka "proof builds," "pre-production builds," etc.) will no longer be allowed in The Craftsman's Corner forum area. "Test build" is defined as the construction of a pre-production or otherwise unreleased kit or product. Said kit or product is not available for sale to the general model building public at the time the topic is posted. Topics identified as such will be removed by the Moderator.
a. Per the standard agreement with the owner of Railroad-Line Forums, paying Railroad-Line advertisers are given a forum area to discuss their upcoming or current kits/products. Test builds or other discussion of upcoming/unreleased kits/products initiated by manufacturers or their representatives will be allowed within the advertiser's paid forum area but nowhere else on Railroad-Line Forums. Manufacturers wishing to become advertisers and/or establish a paid forum area should contact Joe Durnya ("Admin" on page 1 of the Members page.)
b. Discussions of upcoming/unreleased but announced kits will be allowed in The Craftsman's Corner forum area provided the poster has no business, financial, or other compensated relationship with the manufacturer. Posters who have a business, financial, or other compensated relationship with the manufacturer are required to disclose that relationship in accordance with the established User's Agreement. Discussion topics which violate the terms of this rule will be removed by the Moderator. Check paragraphs 2 and 3 of the User's Agreement (posted in the Forum News area) for additional clarification of this long-standing rule.

2. Traditional construction threads will be allowed in The Craftsman's Corner forum area. A "traditional construction thread" is defined as one which discusses the components, instructions, and building of a currently shipping or previously released/shipped kit/product. Construction threads concerning unreleased kits/products or kits/products not yet shipped to paying customers or which are otherwise unavailable to the general model building public will be deemed "test build" threads and will removed by The Craftsman's Corner Moderator.

3. Teaser-type photos with links to "construction threads" located on off-forum sites, posted with the intent of promoting kits/products on behalf of manufacturers are prohibited. Such photos/links will be removed by The Craftsman's Corner Moderator. Again, refer to Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the User's Agreement for additional clarification concerning disclosure of relationships.

4. In accordance with the terms of the User's Agreement, paragraphs 2 and 3, manufacturers and/or their representatives are prohibited from making kit/product announcements or promotional statements outside of the manufacturer's paid forum area. Manufacturers may reply to legitimate questions/concerns/comments outside of the paid forum areas (e.g., The Craftsman's Corner forum area) about their kits/products, provided such questions/concerns/comments are made by forum members who have no business, financial, or compensated relationship with the manufacturer.

5. Although The Craftsman's Corner forum area is specifically identified in paragraphs 1, 2, and 3 above, these rules will be in force across the entire spectrum of Railroad-Line Forums, under the supervision of the assigned moderator for each separate forum area, with the exception identified in Paragraph 1a, above.

6. These rules may be amended, modified, or rescinded at any time by the owner of Railroad-Line Forums or its administrators.
