After considerable negotiations with the "government", property and trackage rights were secured for a new logging camp on Kill Creek to be known as camp #3. With the fine help from the skilled engineering staff at Carrie Creek Land Co. a plan was finalized and construction began,

Track and switches have been installed at the camp and westward up the grade. An old FSM engine house will be installed and fuel and water facilities built.

The camp will have a small sawmill, an engine facility, camp housing buildings and various others as needed. Tom

Looks like a good plan Tom, Looking forward to watching your progress!

BTW: I think the camp 3 picture won't show because of the # in the file name

Tom Looks like you are off and running. I am looking forward to watching and learning ( always on the lookout for new ideas and techniques) as you proceed with the construction of the railroad. Peter

Tom, welcome to the forums. You're off to a good start. Good looking benchwork. Thanks for all the pictures. I'll look forward to seeing more progress pictures in the future.
That one picture won't show because you have a # in the name. Keep names to only alpha/numerics and you won't have any problems.

I forgot about only alpa/numeric in file names. You would think an old computer guy would know that. Anyway here is another stab at showing the trackwork at camp #3.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I am starting to work on installing Humpyard switch levers for turnout control so will have to get the old brain cells working. Tom

You're off to a nice start, Tom. How do you like those Woodland Scenics grades?

George, For me the WS risers and grades worked just fine. Lay out the route, use some Liquid nails for projects and glue them down. The only issue I had was that some of the pieces with in a kit did not line up vertically when glueing the 2 foot pieces together. Had to shim a couple. I then covered them with short pieces of plaster cloth. I didn't use any roadbed on purpose as I want the track to look like it was just laid on the dirt. I know that it might be a little more noise but I will be running only one train and since it is a Shay will be slow. So far the sound system overlays any track noise. Tom

I had the same problem, so I wrote to WS to see what they suggested to correct this. In response, I received a cmplete, new package, with a letter of apology stating that their tolerance was (IIRC) 1/16"

Kind of stuck right now figuring out how to make the Humpyard switch levers work for my turnouts. Most of the track is now down except for the last turnout. I am using it to help design my turnout control. I will be using a bell crank type of control. I bend the wire in a flattened U shape at the top of the layout. I drill a 1/16 hole in the foam and insert the control wire hooking the arm into the hole in the points connecting rod. I now have a straight piece of wire projecting out throught the bottom of the foam. Now the issue is, how do I bend that into the other crank arm to connect to the push/pull wire from the lever with out tearing up the foam trying to use pliers. Also, there is so much stuff under my layout I can't get in there to work. Any one out there who has used these Humpyard levers and has some ideas? I am planning on going to the LHS and look at model plane control parts and see what I can cobble up. Tom
