Many of us are not solely focused on photographing railroads, either real or models. Plus I know that some of you even did this as a job, some latent photographers, and some of us are just plain lucky. Because I like seeing a good photo, here's the idea for this thread -- it will be a place to show off your nifty artsy-fartsy photos. You know the ones...those photos that the rest of the family skips over because so-and-so looks so cute! Meanwhile that great low-down red sun-warmed Monument Valley shot gets shuffled to the bottom of the deck. Yup here's an opportunity to show the rest of us what you've got beyond those photos centered on trains. You've seen some of my stuff so let's see some of those well composed artistic photos worth sharing with others on the forum. I betcha there's some award winners out there and you're just hidding them.

Great idea, Rich! I do lots of photography of the wife's flower garden, been documenting it in the past few days and posting selected photos in a web album so she can share the photos with friends. Don't really do much scenic photos unless there is a special event or I'm on a trip somewhere. My Digital Rebel XT turned over 10,000 photos recently, and a lot of these weren't train related. Then there are my other two cameras, with a bunch taken on them too.
Here's one I took about an hour ago in out backyard, of one of the wife's flowers. Don't have a clue what it is, but it grows on a vine on a fence:

Took this one with my Kodak P850 ZLR, use it a lot for this type of photos because it is more versatile than my Rebel XT. It has a 36-432mm (equivalent) lens with image stabilization, macro mode, etc. Only 5.1MP, but does what I want it to do. And a lot smaller and lighter than the bigger one!

Great photo Bob! I love the colors and the raindrops everything just pops out at you. It also has pleasing bokeh. Oops! I'm not sure how many of you know what bokeh is (or if you don’t know, you are about to learn). Bokeh is a Japanese term used by photographers to describe the quality of the out-of-focus areas of a photograph. If a lens does a good job, it is said to have “good bokeh.”
Nice shots Chuck. And I've been to both of those places! I once stayed at the Spouting Horn B&B on that side of Kauai. And I've been on that bridge many times. I hope your pocketbook wasn't too much lighter after traipsing by those jewelry shops!

Guys Wow. Photography use to be a passion of mine, back in the days of film/chrome days. All of my images are chromes and they have been packed away for years. Always immensely enjoy looking at quality work. Peter

The fish are from an office morale efficiency thing so when you travel the world the fish send postcards home from places they have been and things they have done. These guys have been on all the continents. Here they are at exercise maple flag in Cold Lake Alberta partying with the fighter Jocks. Creative photography has them dogfighting with a static air display of a CF5.

If ya like fast air fighters from around the globe I got lots more at:

I took this a few years back somewhere in the Huntingdon Valley area of Pennsylvania. I took a bunch of photos of this building and wasn't really happy with the results ... until I saw spotted something in the cloud in this photo.

The liner Queen Mary II was in our port city last fall, and I took many photos of it entering the harbor, at dockside, etc. But this night shot is my favorite:

Some really nice shots everyone!
Here are a couple from trips back to Europe in past years.

Lake Bled in Slovenia, IMO one of the most underrated countries in Europe. Inexpensive, amazing scenery and a lot less crowded than Austria or Switzerland.

The Church in my parents village of Muchelney in Somerset, England. It was early in the morning, the sun was rising, getting ready for a stunning sunny day. I caught this view of the Church as the morning mist was starting to burn off. This evokes in me a real longing for my homeland.
