Looks good Rick. Are you completely switched over to On30 or are you still modeling in HO?

Rick,
You're doing a great job on the scratchbuild of the caboose. I like the color and the weathering. Keep up the good work.

Thanks John and Jim.
John, my plan is to tear down my HO layout and one of these days build an On30 one. Probably a mini at first. I still have a couple HO Bar Mills kits I need to finish for my club and have a shelf full of my own HO kits, so I'm not abandoning HO completely.
I finished putting the trucks together for the caboose on Wednesday and painted them last night. My kids leave for Vegas on Saturday to spend some time with their Mom. That will free up more time for me and I'll be able to finish this project over the next couple of weeks.

Looks great Rick! That gives me some inspiration, because I'm wanting to build myself some type of "back-woodsy" caboose like that! Thanks for posting it!

The experimenting and practicing continues. I added the boards around the work/storage end of the caboose. For these boards I tried a method described by Chuck Doan that I down loaded from another forum. Instead of me trying to explain the entire process maybe Chuck would be kind enough to repost this method in one of the forums here.
Here are a couple of pictures:

I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out even though they don't look as good as Chuck's. I still need to touch up the board ends and add a bunch more details. I'll post more pictures later.

Rick, It looks very good. Perhaps, if Chuck doesn't jump in, you could post a link to the other forum's posing for us.

Very nice work. I love the chipping and beating on the low walls. What paint are you using for red.
