Deep in the california Redwoods, Loggers pause atop the 12' stump for a postcard photo.
The stump is an actual 3" cut-off tree with modified 1/35 scale military figures. The shay is On30 Bachmann.

Here's a contribution from me in HO scale, using a large resin stump:

An overall view of the diorama using On30 models:

Another shot of the scene, back in HO scale:

These stumps and a bunch of smaller ones came from a Canadian firm, Railway Recollections - http://railway-recollections.com/ through a local friend who is working with them. They wanted some product photos so I was sent a bunch of them I checked with their website and they don't have them listed yet. The large stumps are hollow cast resin.

Great pics everyone.
Dave: That is really cool. Do you have a pic with some kind of size reference? Maybe a coin or something? I'd like to see just how small Zn3 really is.

Okay, not exactly perfect modeling however I am happy with the results. This was a little experiment....

This is actually a Zn3 diorama (because I just had to see if I could do it, that's why... ). Everything is scratchbuilt except the trucks are from Micro-Trains. No, the loco does not run.
It is built inside a small bell jar used to display clocks and dolls...

It keeps the dust off and I can keep it on the bookshelves in the living room where it can be seen. It was a fun little project that took a week of evenings while watching TV.

Dave, In Zn3, do the rails actually touch each other? Very impressive modeling!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm a busy man. I have a railroad to run.
