Hi everyone, for those of you that have been following my last couple of builds, know that I've been paying tribute to certain members here at RRline forums, that help make this place great!
And I thought it would be kinda cool,if I could put all of those tribute builds into one place.
And what I've come up with is a place called "Magoun Pier" Named after our friend from Michigan, Pete Magoun(Orionvp17)
Pete has always been a great help & very encouraging to me,especially when it comes to building my ship models.
So I thought I would name this pier after Pete,to thank him for that support given.
This also happens to be the place where my layout dreams will finally start to come true.
I can think of no better place to start, then where rails meet the water.
This first section of my layout will also be made portable.Infact if I wasn't naming this pier after Pete,I think Port Able would have made a fun name.
This portable section of my layout beginings will roughly measure 3'feet by 6'feet.
But enough of that stuff,I want to show you the Magoun Pier terminal building now.

It's basically made up from 3 Walthers Municipal pier warehouse kits combined together.
I wanted something to compete in size with the R.A.SANTOS which will be tied up too Magoun Pier.
This terminal building measures 12"inches wide by 43" long so it does the job.

posting this now to allow for editing.

Thanks! Neil & Tom, for your posts & comments.

Neil, nice to hear from you! Feel free to walk around and check out the details anytime you like.

Tom, you remind me just how quickly time flies.
I can't believe it's been 7 years already, from when I first started this project.

Greg since 2013 this thread has been an excellent example of your skills and research for this project. I bet you never thought when starting that Pete would become President? A great tribute to him as a friend and truly a testament to your modeling and creativity.

I haven't had a look in this thread in a wee while but the photos over the last few pages are excellent. I really like your street details.

Hi Brian, sorry I used all three of those fronts.
2 of them as you know on my kitbashed terminal building.
My Scottish heritage would not allow me to waste this 3rd. front
So I cut up the 3rd. one and made it into this little guardhouse for my pier.

At first I did not take notice that you used the front facade of that building for BOTH ends. Then I ran across this posting that you utilized 3 walthers kits to build your fantastic kitbash.

My question is do you still have another front face?....possible for sale??

Oh - but I have! Not exactly this scene, but definitely a row of those hydraulic cranes on the wharf.

Cheers, Mark.

Tony & Mark, thanks for your posts!

Mark, that is indeed a cool looking pier scene!
I can't believe that you haven't tried to work this scene some way or another into your home layout.

Hi Greg.

I know its New Zealand, and different sorts of cranes, and the rails are 3'6" apart but...definitely two tracks!

Thanks Greg, You and Bob are right, hard enough posting what I have on here and Facebook, as well as searching for ideas and catching up on emails etc. etc. it's easy to miss the good stuff.

Greg, you hit the problem right on the head!!! I can't keep up with everything either.

Hi Brian & Tony, thanks very much for your nice posts!

Brian, I'm honoured that you are sharing my Magoun pier with other modellers on other forums.
So thanks again for doing that!

Tony, I think it's wonderful when I hear that someone's modelling scenes evokes memories from one's past experiences.
I'm happy that I was able to do that for you this time around.
There is always so much great stuff being shown here on this forum, it's hard to keep up with all of it.
You could spend all of your spare time just trying to keep up with everything going on around here, instead of spending your spare time just doing some modelling.

Wow, Greg, your modeling is superb. How did I miss seeing this thread?

Seeing those piers took me back to the late 50's/early 60's when I came over here (twice back then) on the Queen Mary then on the Queen Elizabeth ocean liners. (I had sailed back to England between on the USS United States) Nice memories. And very nice modeling.

I made reference to your subject thread on 2 other forums I participate in,...suggesting that folks come have a look at your excellent work. I found your subject thread when I was looking for 'modifications' to that Walthers structure. Of course there is no way I have that much room....in fact may have to slice that building up....ha...ha
