Thanks, Rob. Definitely no slate.

Ted, Mike, Bob and Bruce, thank you much!!

It's 20x30, Carl. Probably deceptive photography.

Thanks, Dave!!

Very nice looking country church...well done!

a sheet of blue foamcore I bought at Walmart

Hmmm. My local Walmart only carries 30" x 20" pieces.
Yours seems larger than that.

The church is looking like many we pass in our travels here in Michigan. Nice work, Fred.

As usual, you have nailed it. It looks just like it should.
Great job.

Bob

Looks like the real thing. It has a pleasant country style. You did a great job on the steeple.

That is a mighty fine looking church Fred'.. Very nice indeed'...Nice work as usual'..

Really nice progress Fred. I always like small country churches, and your rendition is looking very nice.
For scale bells, folks should also look in the craft or jewellery section of the 2 dollar shops.
However, I think you made a good choice to enclose the belfry. Although many are open, the majority seem to be enclosed with louvered sides. I assume to give weather protection, but let the sound out.

I'm no expert. but as the building is wood, I assume the roof should be wood or ashphalt shingles or corrugated tin is very common.
I think slate would only be used on stone or brick structures ?

Quick update.

I haven't decided on the roofing material for the steeple yet.
Terrell Posted - 02/21/2021 : 7:17:41 PM
Thanks, Bob. I think I'm making the right decision.

Carl, that's a sheet of blue foamcore I bought at Walmart several years ago strictly to use as a back drop.

Thanks, George.

Nice looking sound sound slats, Fred. Good solution to your bell problem.

Looks great so far Fred.

What is that "easy on the eyes" dark blue background? Is that a wall in your shop?
sgtbob Posted - 02/21/2021 : 3:18:21 PM
Fred, looks good to me. There are lots of old churches like that around here and it looks like
you are heading in the right direction.

Slow but steady progress.

I debated for a while on whether or not to detail the rear. But I went with it.

And as you can see I've started on the roof.

I had fully planned on leaving the top of the tower open and add a bell. Good and good sized bells are hard to find. I had one I'd planned on using but when I got to looking at it I felt it was just too big. I did find one (in a pack of 72} that was a good size. But in thinking about it, and researching more, it seems the open tower is atypical. So I'm closing it in, with sound slats, more typical.

Thanks, Bill and Mike!!

Chuck, glad you like the house.

Yeah, Frank, I think I'm mega'd out for a while.
