These pictures of a "used to be" coal dealer. A couple of pictures are from the internet. I don't remember which one's they are. The others are from me. I have more if interested I'll post them.

This picture faces east. The weigh scale is between the weigh house and the silos.

The holding silos. You can see where the unloading shut's were by the holes in the side of the silos.

I wonder what kind of coal they sold?

The west side of the scale house.

East side.

South side.

The scale. Somewhat obscured by years of non use.

A picture of the scale before they boarded up the windows.

John ,

Excellent model, especially the worn and weathered paint.

Seems that Branchline's Valley Fuel and Supply was inspired from it. Looks like the extension was turned 90* instead of running further along the tracks.

That was a beautiful model! I bet it's even more spectacular in color.

Was going through some old MR issues trying to find anything on roundhouses and came across this Model of the Month picture. This person built the grain structure I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Can you imagine the helix you could build in thosesilo's?

Bern

You would need some Alpine club members to set pitons every 4-5" on those inside walls. Your wife would love it! Just casually mention it to her.

Good to know. Saves me a trip out and the wife yelling at me for wasting gas to go measure the size of a block. I just wish I could have gotten better pictures of the conveyor metal works.

Forgot to add: You forgot to ask him how high the base was!

Looks like about 30" showing and probably 6" hidden in the weeds. He said the doghouse was pulled down because it was so rotten. The owner is getting ready to sell the property. Ahh, the power of the internet! Looking at the above link, It took me to Miller's Millworks which is
the large building across the street from the old coal company. I called them up, and asked the guy answering
the phone if he had 'the crazy call of the day', he laughed and asked "is this it it?" I said probably.

I asked him if he had any idea if those blocks were 12 X 12 or 18 X18 on the coal silos. He said "I'll check",
walked across the street with his cellphone and a tape measure. "They are 12 X 12!" That was really cool! He asked how
I figured out who to call. Google Earth Pro will put you right on Gates St. in Leroy, NY.

Here's a shot off the internet...

This drone shot from 2018 still has the roof and doghouse on top of the silos. I'll call the business across the street tomorrow and see what I can find out.
