Congrats to Frank for a brilliant solution.

Jerry, any chance of a better picture?
I think I see what you did, but a better picture would help.
Thanks.

Lois, Mike your right when it comes to solutions Mr. Palmer is right on top of it.

Craig you can't see the disks all you can see now is chain between the gears.

Frank I didn't put the inside ones on yet and yes I'll have to cut them to get them on.
But it works fine I can put the model out of harm's way for now.

Jerry, I cant see the difference in the pictures??
Michael Hohn Posted - 03/29/2020 : 11:05:27 AM
Mighty fine solution. Frank must have done some cog-itating.

Itís a beautiful model.

Mike

Jerry, I didn't realize there were 2 sides. Good thing I sent you spares. Did you make a slit in the disk to get it over the shaft on the inside ones?
desertdrover Posted - 03/29/2020 : 09:38:03 AM
Great solution to your problem. Frank comes through once again!
TRAINS1941 Posted - 03/28/2020 : 8:34:11 PM
Okay so this is the way it happened.

Frank Palmer being the friend that he is came out with a great idea.

He made safety discs for the gears so you can see the chain between the gears and I don't have to worry about the chain sitting perfectly on the gears.

I only have done the one side will do the other over the weekend. But it's done.

Thank you Frank.

I know this isn't what anyone would want to do, however, could you possibly take a hacksaw and cut off the gear from the drum, and cut off the left tractor wheel. Then insert a pin into the drum shaft with a new axle for the re-placement gear? Just grasping at ideas and solutions here Jerry.
Frank Palmer Posted - 03/17/2020 : 6:54:26 PM
Jerry, I found this one on the WWW and the chain is definitely "faked" on there.

I just re-visited this thread, and Larry you are a genius. If all else fails, that is the only solution here. Why didn't I think that idea up first.

Jerry, it would be a shame to use a regular chain that doesn't fit on your gears properly, on such a great looking model.
Have you tried looking at miniature motorcycle or bicycle chains?
I know they make them, because I have some miniature bicycles with tiny little chains on them.

Greg
