I am working on a Walthers kit and wanted to brush paint with craft paints or model master acrylics. My question is what can I prime the plastic with to make the paint adhere better to the plastic. I read the sticky and did not see this addressed.

Dunno, I used stuff that I had in my "stash."

jlg,
I forgot to mention that I used the Walmart primer (what I have left) on plastic buildings after washing.

A lot of people have good luck with WalMart primer. Just read up on the tricks to get a good thin coat (including storing upside down the day before and letting the can soak in warm water for 30 minutes before painting.)

I like to wait at least a day, the standard metric is "when you can't smell the spraypaint solvent on the model."

So if I use the wal mart brand primer that I use on bar mills kits that will work? Does it help with paint adhesion? Drying time between primer and painting with the acrylic paint?

1. thoroughly clean the model. I use a 10% solution of "Super Clean" (automotive degreaser, from auto parts store or auto section of WalMart.) You can use dishwashing soap, but it's not as effective. Of course, let dry thoroughly.

2. spray primer, either from a spraycan or airbrush.

If you don't want to mess with spray painting, be sure to clean the model thoroughly, and consider brushing on a primer paint (e.g. Vallejo or AK Interactive) before brushing your final coat.
