This is part II of this ongoing saga of a backwoods logging outfit set along the border of Kentucky and Tennessee in 1910.

Please do not go looking for part one as they were vaporized when Photo Bucket became ransomeware and hijacked all my pictures. I have seen the light and will now post directly to this site

I'm looking forward to continuing the dialogue in this most fascinating of hobbies.

I love this layout. The attention to detail is staggering.

Very nice. Have always loved your work. Really am preferential to the Sugar Cane Hauler.

The scene might be “mini” in size but it’s “maxi” in atmosphere. Superb.

Tom fantastic looking wood cutters scene. You've got the wood cutter team in realistic believable poses as well.
George D Posted - 06/24/2019 : 7:17:51 PM
Nicely done scene, Tom. Refueling requires a lot of manual labor.

One of the fun parts of modeling in On30 is the "mini scenes" you can do with lots and lots of details.

Well the steam locomotives need a lot of cut wood to do their work......so a mini scene on the mini logging layout.

Thanks for looking. Doc Tom

Looking good Tom!

Hi Tom, that is a great product for that use. I mainly used envirotex lite, and in some areas used the Mod-Podge over that for the moving water effect. Envirotex lite once poured and dry comes out dead flat, however a great looking water effect, it needs the Mod-Podge to give it a motion look. Your job looks great!

Dave Frary has a how-to waterways DVD with many great techniques.

Putting the finishing touches on the mini logging layout.
I painted the river and stream bottoms and their shorelines using acrylic paints.

Using an interesting product Dave Frary liked called “ModPodge” I applied the river and stream surface using a fan brush.

Following are pictures of the completed streams and river.

I would appreciate your comments on this product / technique and if you have ever used it to create river and stream scenes.

Thanks for looking. Doc Tom

Really a great film & animation video. From the looks of the credits I'm guessing "Tom Grabenstein" had a lot to do with this video making.
I'm right there with Mike and Rick. Truly outstanding scenes, and automation going on in your modeling.

Couldn't agree more.
Adding the automation to already good looking layout is a very nice touch.
