Hi All
I have had a hankering for months to build a moonshine still and was going to model it after ones in these pictures.
All the kits available looked way to toy like so I was going have to go scratch.

Than one day while scouring ebay I found this. There are from Century Foundry Metal Works by showcase miniatures

The still body and spout are so similar to the ones in the pictures I bought two.

Nice clean castings with very little flash and nice cast details.

Ted,
Before you sent me your link, I had made about 10 attempts
and was about to give up. All those other links should be deleted
from the website never to be seen again!

Thanks again for your help.

Another option is to use a bit of something like Walthers Goo to position the parts. When they're correct, then apply CA to lock the parts in place.

Tony,
I have a simple 3 step process for holding the little pieces:

1. Apply a tiny drop of Loctite Super Glue (gel) to one surface
2. Cross your fingers
3. Hold your breath

As a friend of the KY mash, every layout should have moonshine! Legal or illegal.
Nice Job!

I've built a couple of these, and now have a third I am getting ready to do. I like some of your ideas on holding the little pieces. Thanks for your post. Just goes to show, even the smallest of models can enlighten some of us to some better ideas.

Nice figures Duane wish you were posting these 3-4 years ago.
I do also like your scene using them.

Okay, sounds good, I'll send you the thread...
It sounds more complicated than it actually is....
It takes a few tries to get it just right'...Don't get frustrated.
Here is the thread'..

[How to post pictures on the forum] located in General Forums, under the Crew Lounge'..heading'...

Thanks Ted.
I'll gladly add the photo if someone will direct me to the tutorial on how to do that.
I'm going to assume its appropriate to do it here since Mike was my inspiration to create the scene
in the first place.

Duane, that is a great photo of your scene on the Ebay site, You should put that on the forum'..for all members to see'.

Moonshiner figures are available here.

And they're excellent - clean and well detailed.
