A few photos from this weekend.
Modelers from around Australia enter models in this event. The level of skill and presentation is incredible.

Those guys get crazy detailed with their builds. Generally if you see a nut, bolt, screw or rivet - it is an actual fastener...not a sculpted detail. A friend built one where he machined the gearing in the differential so that the LSD actually worked. Stopped just shy of actually building the gearing for the transmission (he did however machine pistons, a crank and connecting rods so that if you rolled the car forward with the heads off you could watch the pistons move up and down in the cylinders).

Utter craziness.

I also went to Model Expo. Spent five hours there and had a great time. Caught up with Mario and Barry Pate at their display.

I'm patiently waiting for the US version in Orlando, FL, August 8-11, 2012. http://www.ipms2012.org/

Thanks again Mario.

You asked for a few more Happy Snappy's.

Grab a coffee and enjoy Finescale Modeling from modelers around the World

Rick. Web photos uploading thru the copper wire as I write.

Terry. Fags won't kill me, it's the other crap that gets my heart stressed out

Neil. I often give people the "shakes" when they meet me. Hope you've settled down .

That Alpha Romeo was fabulous. What scale was it? It looked about 1:12

I was nice to meet you again, Mario, and I will post some photos of the tool benches I am building.

There were a few railway models on display. I liked this one - an armoured rail car and a possible topic for a future challenge (sorry about the camera shake)

But there were lots of great models there. I particularly liked this 1:48 DH2

and this tank thingy in 1:35

All these ship models are made from paper! Amazing stuff

Mario

Thanks for the pics.

Would love to find out what Geoff is up to.

I thought you gave up the fags?

Your heart would appreciate it

Mario, thanks for the pictures.
I look forward to seeing more on your site when you get the chance to put them up.
That Alfa is remarkable.

This won a few National awards this weekend.
The owner kindly removed the protective box cover to photograph.

Photo's do not do the model justice

Just got home after 3 days taking part in my first expo for some years. I could tell you stories just on the photos I've posted so far. Met many modelers from all over Australia and many came from overseas to attend this National "Toys for Boys" Expo.

I tried to get as many photos as possible during breaks , which I'll setup on my web site when time permits.

As a side note. Web site is undergoing another change. Had to delete nearly 12,000 photos and will need to re-work some of the links, as more finescale miniatures ( non railway ) projects are added. Sorry Frank P

There was so much to learn.. seeing the other side of this hobby. The painting skills, fine scale weathering, presentation and the days ( months, years ) some of these projects have taken to complete. I also noticed there was a mutual respect amongst all modelers, no matter what what their particular interest was.
I picked up a few new tips along the way.

ED. I haven't spoken to Geoff for a while, BUT I know what he is working on. Maybe it will be on show later this year, which means a trip to Sydney for me to take a few "Happy Snappy's".

Jerry. As an Exhibitor, I arrived about an hour earlier each morning to photograph models, so not many people around to get in my way, before it got packed.

Well I'm a bit stuffed, so I'll have a latte, a fag and maybe upload a photo or two on this thread later tonight.

cheers "M" ( downunder )

Hi Mario,

I see that I am missing a groovy show!

I especially like the second shot, with the dudes shoe-horning the Big Block into that XC Falcon....

Mario;
Fantastic modeling, the ships are beautiful!
Do you have any idea what Geoff Nott is up to? I enjoy your videos of his old layout. Any chance you could do an update on his new stuff for us?
Thanks
