Last September I was able to go to the Narrow Gauge Convention in Hickory NC. There I saw the Sundance Central Modular RR. I was just blown away at the work on that Layout.
I have been working on a Ho layout in my basement for about 9 months. The work has been going well on it. I have been collecting things for it as I go. Well about 2 months ago I went to a local small train show. There i picked up a few odds and ends.
I ran across a G gauge Passenger car for next to nothing. I needed it like I need a hole in my head. Well I bought it. It really got me wanting to do another Large scale layout. I use to have about 300Ft garden railway in my back yard. I also ran one that ran around the inside of my whole house. Yes I had holes cut in all the walls and it even ran threw to shower. All this was about 15 years ago. Well I moved and the trains did not survive the move. I did keep a couple. I kept a Shay and a Climax. I also Had about 300 ft of aluminum track which I pull up but could not bring myself to throw away.
Well I have been bitten by the bug again. I have been researching the G scale modulars and
Getting the parts and finally started building about 3 weeks ago. My Goal it to keep it small enough to fit in my 12x6x7 Trailer. I ended up with a plane that would give me 16 modules. I will make a rack that I can set each module on its end and lock into place. I need to keep the clearances to about 9" so building and trees will have to be removed for transport. Here is a basic drawing of the layout.

Thanks Richard,
I took the guards off. They were more trouble than they were worth. People would just come up and lay on them. It was kind of funny to watch them brwak off, but a pain to put back up.
I have had the signs for a while and they just say "fragile don'kith
t lean or touch the layout".

Ty,
Nice addition of the animated figure. I noticed that you don't have the guard rail around the perimeter of the layout, but you have signs that I could not make out the wording other that the word, "Fragile".

I did a walk around of the layout this past weekend. Had a really good time at the Neuse River Valley train show this past weekend.

I saw one of the animated figures Bill did and had to do a larger version.
It got some good laughs.

I just got back from a train show. I ran the smoke system for another 14 hours still working well. But it was raining most of the weekend. Last show it was really dry outside and the plenum box was dry inside. When I opened the Plenum box it there was about 2 cups of water/fluid in the bottom of the box. I am really glad I fiber glassed the inside of the box to make it water tight...

Thanks Ray,
Well after 2 days at the show and running the smoke system on 3 buildings Constantly for about a total of About 15 hours. I am really happy with the setup. Clean up was easy.I did not have a lot of liquid inside the plenum box. I just had enough to dampen the 2 paper towels. I did have to set a towel under the smoke machine. I had a little fluid under it but not much. when it was all done I poured the remaining smoke fluid into the jug and I may have only used a 1/3 of a gallon or less for the whole 2 days..The whole thing take about 10 minutes to set up and about 10 to take down. Its one of the faster features to setup.

Hey Guys,
Well I m doing a train show again at the Spencer Train Museum. I finally got to use the smoke system. Once I got the layout out totally up and running it took me about 10 minutes to set the system up. The System ran for 8 hours yesterday without stop. I did not use but maybe 1/3 gallon of fluid. Here is a pic of the store and the smoke..

Hopefully the epoxy coating will hold up to the moister and hold up to a gallon of fluid. After the first test run will have to see if I need to install a drain..

I like the way you mounted the fan blowing into another distribution box to the outlets. Remember it gets wet in there.

Oh the box does have a lid..

Ok now I will revisit to smoking shack. Well I the Bachmann smoke unit did work well but only for about 10 - 15 mins at a time. It would be crazy to try to refill it all the time. So I had emailed Frank back in 2012 and he gave me a rough description of there setup for the Sundance Central. So I like to making things so I figured I would give it a try. So as i started building this thing I had more questions and Frank referred me to Dale MacKeown. Dale was very helpful and gave me a detailed instructions on their smoke system.. Being I had already started I had to make what I started with work. In my final Product is a little different from theirs but works great for 4 building that I have. The Sundance has 15 buildings they run smoke to ...

Here is a video I did during the construction.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHSjDRYv7Ys

Here are some pic's

Packed ready to travel. The whole system fits into the plenum box.

Hey Guys,
more work done this weekend. I was working on the sound system and I have seen when there are a lot of people at a show thing can be a little loud and the sounds get drowned out. So I added a Speaker in the middle of both trestles. I had to camouflage them by adding fire barrels to the trestle. The way I did it may not be prototypical but it is functional. I did not take a picture but you cannot see the speaker unless you bend over and actually look for it..

These are all built up from balsa. The barrels I have been making for a wile cast in resin. I did make new Lids for the barrel and they are cast in resin also...

I bought 2 of them and have only taken 1 apart. The second one is is 4-1/2" including the base. I asked the sellers how tall the figure was by itself. The figure I have on the module is 3.5" and the one I have not taken off is 3.25" tall..
