Posted - 04/19/2012 : 11:41:42 PM Hey Y'all,
I need some help. Moderators, if this is the wrong forum for this question, would you kindly put it in its proper place. Thank you.
I'm looking at getting the RS Laser Kits, HO Scale GEM Hotel. I've never built anything by them, nor have I seen anything by them.
I've tried to search but the terms are too generic and return novels.
Can anyone help me here? I want to know the quality, craftsmanship, fit and finish, etc. Would you buy one?
Thanks,
Manny |

Posted - 04/21/2012 : 11:20:00 PM I have bought five of the RS Laser logging buildings and have found them to be great kits. Not only is the laser work spot on, but the company is very customer oriented. I had a small problem with one of the parts in one of my kits, and I sent them an E-mail. With-in a very few days I had the new parts sent to me with no questions asked with a follow up to make sure everything was OK. A great company to do business with. Dave |

Posted - 04/21/2012 : 07:21:26 AM Good exchange, Manny: thanks for bringing it up. I'm unfamiliar with RS Laser so your post led me to their website. Thanks for chiming-in, Rich. Dave K. |

The HO version builds the same way. Also is another build thread by Jan for the Keystone mill again in N scale I am trying to get him to post over here also.

Rich,
Thank you so much for your response. It says a lot about you and your company that you not only participate here, but are willing to answer candidly. I appreciate that. Your kit will fit my era nicely as a hotel. I won't hesitate to buy it.
Thanks again for the help! It is appreciated.

I have RS already saved in my favorites. He's been there for some time. I did Google for reviews. Nothing. I did search here for reviews. Too generic of terms to bring concise hits.
I'm not one of those who just asks without looking. I do everything I can to find out my questions before I ask.
No harm. No foul. Just clarifying.

Posted - 04/20/2012 : 09:25:23 AM Manny,
Rich did some custom work for me over the winter which I was very pleased with. The cutting and measurements were perfect. I would order again. |

Posted - 04/20/2012 : 08:44:29 AM Manny, I think you'll like Rich's kits. I have seen many of them and they are well done although I still have yet to build one myself. Let us know what you decide.

Posted - 04/20/2012 : 06:22:02 AM I assembled a few of their smaller structures a while ago, found them to be of high quality. Here's their sawfilers' shack that I did:

Note the positionable double hung windows. Think the kit came with two choices for roofing. I added the smoke jack, otherwise the structure is right from the box.
