With Krisís (KP) permission I am transferring to a new thread to finish the details on the Sierra West O Scale Wood Cutters Shack and its integration into the partially completed diorama. I was a pleasure to work with Kris building these shacks and I look forward to doing so again.

The first thing we both noticed was the great number of detail castings - almost overwhelming. Brett has taken the casting business to a new high - you design what goes on the shelves and desktops - there are tons of wrenches, c-clamps, hammers, and assorted gears and cogs, tanks. And even a wheelbarrow and your custom build skid - this all adds up to lots of detail work. Kevin has a great thread started working through many of these castings and I plan on applying his techniques along with some of mine to make some cool details.

The first casting I am working on is the tank thingie - here it is partially done - there is no sheen in real light.

E it looks great. IMO it has enough foliage but I like semi-arid modeling, the better to see all your fantastic details and their decorating.

Looks great! Please post more pictures when you are done with the foliage. Thanks.

Thanks for the responses - appreciated - quick up-date - most of the castings are placed - just a little more foliage and we will be done!!!

Waow. What a set of castings!
Very nice scenes in these recent pics, Elliott. I love the way you always give life to your models.

Really nice paint job on the castings. I like how every item has a different weathering effect and not uniform.

ET great job on the castings and the LP. Looking forward to seeing these all in place.

Thanks Bryan, Collin, and those who just came by to look. Update - all the figures and casting details are finished and ready to start the scenicing - starting to feel like I will get through this

Collin Loo Posted - 05/05/2014 : 01:16:34 AM
Hi Elliott,

Love all the details you have added to the scene. They are well placed and looked very realistic. Excellent work!

That did go together nicely. A couple of small add-on details that I noticed are the track spike hooks on the walls and the nbw's on the wire spools. Subtle and effective.

Thanks a lot - the trees are from Canyon Creek Scenics - and the newest addition is a little log buggy flat car by GC Design Group. Last shot is details surrounding the cable storage area.
