Foamboard mockup of next project...looks like its going to be a really interesting one....original design and equipment is by Western Scale Models. Just trying to modify the design to include a Horizontal Brick Boiler on the left side and a maintenance shop on the right.

Thanks Rich,

PM on the way.

John...thanks for your compliments, I had a good time building this project. As you might
have seen I added to the original kit a boiler section on the left side and an office on
the right side. Any help I can offer just let me know.

Know this is an older thread, but google found it.

I just picked up this kit at O Scale West and am amazed at all the details involved in it.

You did an outstanding job on this and if I can do half as well I will be pleased.

Great pics along the way for sure.

It may be awhile before I even start this project, but now that I have found this thread I have something to look at from time to time

Hey Trent, in the real world the belts have a splice that is made of metal that interlocs and is pinned. Some were sown together as well.

Cool

Looking forward to see how you do it. Please post lots of pictures.

Thanks to all for the positive comments....

Wes, my next project will be a scratch built barn or transfer building for livestock along with holding pens and rr track for loading. I once saw one a while ago on ebay and loved the layout, so I'll adapt the idea into an O scale version...

Trent, the belts were mounted by using ca adhesive. I placed one end of the belt and on the wheel with glue, then ran it over and around to the beginning. Put a dab of glue on the belt and blended it in to the existing belt already on the wheel. So it is a complete belt but constructed on the wheels in place. If that makes any sense.

Hi Richard,

You have some of the belts going over beams. How do you propose changing out the belts? Unless they come split and have to be sewn together when replaced.

Awesome work Richard

What do you plan to do next?

First class and top notch! Wonderful job Richard.

This is really a great interior, Richard. Apart from the outstanding machinery, you've also been able to add these numerous parts that make the inside of a stamp mill a busy place very difficult to fully understand.

absolutely beautiful execution

Rick,

The belt material is the one supplied with the western scale models kit, a paper product, might be manila folder type of material but thinner. I colored the belts with Kiwi Brown color shine or liquid shoe polish. Did 2 coats then used black weatering powders. Had to do a few extra before it came out the way I liked it.

The belts were a real pain since I wanted to get a tight look and had very litte room to work.

Finally finished with the completion of the machine belts. This one I always wanted to do but didn't anticipate all the work it took, but worth it. Time to move on to the next project.
