This morning, between rain showers, I happened to look out the window and saw this interloper taking its leisure in the shade garden next to the patio.

Of course, She-Who-Rules-The-Yard took exception to the intruder and barked furiously and bravely, albeit from a distance. She continued to bark long after the hapless creature had ambled back to the woods until I wacked her with a broom because she was driving me .

Yes, it's right there. A couple of days ago there was a duck about half way from the house to the pond. Just as I came out to have my morning coffee that gator was almost to the duck but when he saw me he hightailed it back to the pond. "That was one lucky duck"

Dave, In Florida alligators are close to most peoples houses. They were here first.

Yes Terrell but you certainly have the doe.

A Blue Heron is eyeing the koi in my fish pond.

It would appear I'm a buck short.

Frank,
Same thing was happening in Lithia, Fl. where I live.
Thank goodness we got some rain.

He could grow into a nice pair of shoes someday!!

Just a little guy. This 3-footer has been patrolling the pond behind the house for the past month or so. I guess the drought had him looking for water and he ended up here. For a size comparison the lily pads are a little more than a foot across.

Sure sign of spring, a squirrel grabbing two peanuts from our tray:

Here is one not quite so majestic.

I was turning over the garden and finding the occasional grub worm (about 1/2" long) when this brute showed up. It was just a bit over 2" long.

Ken, they are majestic birds. I'm glad to see them rebound so well. I recently saw one by the Bull Run Marina in Fairfax Co., VA.

A frequent visitor to the lake front. He just caught a fish.

That's a nice idea Ted, but outside.
