Posted - 04/29/2007 : 8:24:26 PM After a Winter spent finishing my backdrop and building benchwork, I am more than a little ecstatic to announce that track is going down on the Piedmont & East Blue Ridge.
Track laying began at the Meridian quarry spur. The three wye turnouts that form Glade Junction will be fabricated and placed, with the spur and branch tracks extending from them.
Turnout fabrication is going full bore using a variety of goodied purchased from Fast Tracks:

It's all fun ... some parts are just funner than others!

Posted - 04/18/2010 : 07:52:53 AM Thanks to all for the very kind words. If I knew beforehand how long it was going to take to get the track down, I probably would not have hand laid. I enjoy it, but it seemed like it would never be finished

And indeed it is not finished ... still need to weather the rail and paint the copper PCB ties and install switchstands and ... but that is the nature of the hobby.
Operations have begun hauling small wooden blocks as stand-ins for stone loads:

Stay tuned for more updates coming to a new thread in a Forum near you!
Many thanks again,

Posted - 04/18/2010 : 12:21:31 AM CELEBRATE!
The people of Sonora Grande rang the town bells tonight to celebrate another On30 shortline's beginning! All the teakettles in the yard joined in with whistles and bells. Well done Mark, it's truly a notable achievement and a satisfying milestone to reach. |

Posted - 04/16/2010 : 9:19:14 PM Guys,
The last spike has been spiked, the last drop feeder has been dropped, the last frog has been heated.

Even though some of the track is HO flex track that will eventually be replaced, the entire line is in.

Cletus Bagby climbed up on a boxcar to watch the first trains from the quarries roll into the new yard.

The Piedmont and East Blue Ridge is in business!
