Posted - 11/15/2007 : 3:19:42 PM Check Brett's Blog update (http://www.sierrawestscalemodels.com/focus.html). He's posted photos of an upcoming O scale sawmill kit. Marty Jones ("lab-dad") built the pilot model and shot the photos. It's going to be another great looking kit from Brett!
Excellent modeling, Marty!

Posted - 11/19/2007 : 06:33:41 AM Exciting news. It's been a long time since no such kit was available in O scale. And Marty's sawmill is great. |

Posted - 11/17/2007 : 5:15:32 PM Holy cow! I've been pondering what I was going to do for the sawmill on my On30 layout. I was wanting a smaller, backwoods kind of sawmill rather than the full-blown bigun. Looks like this has just solved my delimma! Yahoo! Ya know, sometimes I think about all the HO stuff there is beyond what I'm finding in O scale, but then something like this comes along and confirms for me all over that I made the right decision in switching from HO to On30. This is gonna be great for my layout. |

Posted - 11/17/2007 : 2:17:49 PM Beautiful work, Marty. You've really captured the awesome look of a backwoods sawmill.
Years ago I was driving along a blacktop two-lane road in West Virginia when I spotted a lot of muddy truck tracks emerging from a dirt road that led off into the woods. Curious, I followed the road a short distance and came upon a sawmill very much like yours. I got out and looked around a bit, but didn't feel all that welcome. Driving away I wished that I had brought a camera with me. (I wonder if they were stealing that lumber. ) -Dave |

Posted - 11/17/2007 : 09:04:29 AM Thanks everyone. Actually Mike my model is a "one of a kind" the kit will be similar, also based on Sturgen's Yes many pictures and details can be found in the Logging and Industrial Annual from Spring of this year. From what I understand the kit will be available in sections to ease the burden on your wallet. you have to build the machinery first anyway so why not get started; they are already available. I hope some of you build the kit, I would be more than happy to provide assistance. Thanks again guys, neat seeing the mill on the web. -Marty

Posted - 11/17/2007 : 05:12:50 AM WOW. The up-coming Sawmill is going to be a magnificent " must buy and build" kit.If all the mill equipment is included, my guess is we're looking a a $400 kit. Time to start putting the pennys away. Peter |

Hi Jerry, I meant kits. Money I still need or else I wouldn't waste my time at work. Kits I have more than enough, but I can always build more shelves.
As far as the basement, I finally got in touch with a couple of people to do the dry wall. One came over last night to look at the job and the other is supposed to come over this weekend.
Tell Diane hi. I'll try and call you over the weekend. |

Posted - 11/16/2007 : 10:56:54 AM Thank's for the heads up Mike, I for one will be watching the development of the kit. I like the kits he puts out and that's great work Marty. O scale is getting some super nice stuff out there for sure. You need to start a kitty when you see these coming up, save the quarters, well maybe dollars, tens? Anyway it looks like it will be another great project. |
