A loaded grain train bound for the L&IN interchange at Lapaz Jct. waits on the main line in Bremen. The train will eventually go south to Logansport.

As time passes the old abandoned Longs elevator continues to become more over grown brush and trees.
The elevator was built and weathered by Tom Johnson.

The picture was taken in April of 2012 of the abandoned San Pierre, IN elevator. I believe the facility closed in 1998.
I have tried to give my Longs elevator the same look and feel.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Frederic, Bill, Mark, raystew and Mike.

Mike the vine were made with Woodland scenic ground foam and foliage. Some poles I used adhesive with ground foam and the other with foliage cut into strips.

Very nice scene, looks fantastic. I would agree that the feeling from the actual location and photo has been very well captured on the model.

Anything out of the ordinary in adding the vines to the telephone poles, or is it just ground foam material? They look great.

The vines on the poles really help sell the scene Quintin. Very nice!

Hey Quintin, what else is there to say.

Wonderful scene with all this greenery, Quintin.

You are correct Amocoman the San Pierre elevator was on the NYC.

Thanks for the comments Tom

Ok, from other pictures that I just brought up, it was along the NYC. Correct ?? PK

Quintin. Perfect on the vines growing up the telephone poles. It adds even more believability to the scene.

I added some additional trees, brush, telephone poles and details to the scene.

I would like to thank everyone who responded to my post for the kind and encouraging comments.

Guys. I want you to know that Quintin nailed this scene. Q and I have made a couple of trips to San Pierre, Indiana to see this elevator in the trees. The elevator surprisingly is not to rusted up. I've also seen it with leaves on the trees in the middle of summer. It looks just like Quintin's scene. I'll say that Quintin didn't quite go as far with the trees as in the prototype and I'm glad he didn't. I like seeing parts of the elevator exposed. Great job Q!

Hey Quintin, great photos and story. I've got to get things going for the interchange with the Indiana Northeasrern. I've a small section of grain hoppers and a couple of empty bulkhead flats for forwarding.

Fantastic photo angles, Quintin! The weathering job on the co-op is superb and the overall realism of the scene is bang on! Keep those pics from your layout coming in!
