I'm not sure how the oil is put into the various examples.

Photo 1 ( model by Brian Nolan ) I wanna make oil tank , not water tank as above

Photo 2 Drums ( model by Brian Nolan )

This is Sierra West casting. RHS

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 09:56:34 AM Chuck. Thanks.
I'm not sure how many "Roland Racks" I've built over the past 12 months in various scales, but it's a neat design I copied from Roland Picard

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 07:47:39 AM Mario - this stuff is awesome! The tanks look great, but I also like the pipe and lumber rack. It all makes into a terrific scene. |

Posted - 06/01/2012 : 7:02:09 PM With only a week to go before the expo, it's time to stop making details and give the completed one's a home.
The big tanks are for the Anders General Store. It's a tight squeeze in this little area. A few more tank add on details required before they can service the customers.

I was hoping someone could answer your question. I would imagine the water tank was scratchbuilt by Brian.

Posted - 06/01/2012 : 11:31:02 AM Very nice tanks, Mario (the models!). I hope you and your lady have finally been served your order...
This is an item I haven't given much thought to, and need to consider what would be located around the shops, etc. to supply lubricant and fuel for lanterns, gasoline engines etc. |

Posted - 05/19/2012 : 4:02:05 PM I think everything looks fantastic and I have only one suggestion and that is the fire extinguisher. It is a carbon dioxide (CO2)extinguisher and the tanks are always painted red and the pipe and nozzel are black. So if interested you could maybe do a dry brushing of a hint red on the extinguisher tank.Otherwise great job! |

Posted - 05/19/2012 : 3:22:56 PM Does anybody know who makes the square tank (behind the boiler)in the first pic Mario posted of Brian Nolan's diorama?
Thanks, Nader |

Thanks for the drawings & the link.
I can see the small vent pipe that Bill was referring to.
As always, we learn so much of the real world, thru our hobbies
cheers

Posted - 05/16/2012 : 9:44:14 PM Frank. Seems someone contacted the worksafe inspectors and I've been informed that the current, partly burned fire extinguisher is not adequate. Now I have to replace it with a new one .

Posted - 05/15/2012 : 9:35:44 PM Larry. I said the same thing to my lady friend last night.

Adrian. With some of my detail projects, I'm not sure what scale they will be until I'm near completion. The Nolan Tanks are now 1:35. At some stage I'll make similar in 1:48 & 1:24 scale with a few variations.
Bill. Thanks for the info regarding locking caps.
Rick. There are so many details I hope to reproduce from Brian's work.
There's enough there to keep me busy for year's http://www.modvid.com.au/html/body_brian_nolan__on30.html
BArry. Don't do it....
Frank. Yep...another "rack" for viewers to look at.
Worksafe rules ???. Not here. The gasoline tanks are full. Oil tanks always leak. And there's the oxy welding done right beside.
BUT... as a safety precaution, I did remember to have the fire extinguisher handy in case of emergency

Posted - 05/15/2012 : 8:00:45 PM Relly like it mario. Ill be adding that picture to my folder of detail ideas. Will be just the thing to have next to my blacksmith shop. What scale is this in? (always hard to tell when you have a few projects on the go). |
