Dave -- Yes, there's a detailed construction thread about the turntable right here on the forum ... but over in the On30 section:

Posted - 09/18/2012 : 4:36:42 PM This may be way later on, but have you done a build tutorial on your gallows turntable? If it is posted elsewhere, I would really like to read up on it. I am very impressed with your modeling abilitiy.

I would be interested not only in plaid paint but "Calico" paint also but it will have to be done in HO so I use it on my figures. To aid in the delopement of this product I can donate up to 16ozs of condensed steam. |

Dallas, Wondering if you've had a chance to get back to this amazing little layout?
Norm
Hi Norm --
No, not yet, but I am looking forward to it! Here are the most recent "near misses" in terms of potentially doing something: 1) Recently went to Ikea for something else and finding myself browsing for a cabinet that would make a nice stand for the layout ... which is currently on a folding card table in my work area. Found a couple suitable candidates, but haven't decided yet. 2) After many hours sculpting a head for a new figure on the 1/35 project, I looked at the water tank on this layout as a nice change-of-pace project ... so that will probably be the next item.
So the "bad news" is that I'm still diverted from this and working mostly on the Chambers Gas & Oil project as time allows ...
The "good news" is that I still really like this project and look forward to doing more with it ... and it's still right out in my work area calling to me often! |

This layout has been on "temporary" hold while I have a "brief" diversion to build the Chambers Gas & Oil structure for the Chambers Challenge. Now, turns out that project isn't quite so brief ... and happy to say that I have NOT lost interest in this one at all. Actually been getting the itch to do something on this project again soon ... so maybe the water tank or something will get some attention before too long. |

Posted - 08/19/2010 : 07:06:24 AM Dallas, Just when I thought I've seen most aspects of the hobby, your mini/micro-layout build is blowing me away! Fantastic! What a neat idea and a great story/by-line for all that you're doing. It reminds me of the stories that Ken Hamilton and Gregg Wentzl put in to their build threads. Keep up the amazing work and will follow this one for sure! It's pure entertainment as well as education.

In the world of rubber gauging that is a Scale55 1930's Generic Panel truck.

I have a new thread about that, but Scale55 has a lot of vintage vehicles.

Harold. That is a Matchbox. It's the 1927 Talbot Van and is 1:48

I have a listing of these Matchbox/Lensey models .. "Models of Yesteryer" .. with scales
Matchbox/Lensey from 1:46 to 1:50 scales (I was concentrating on 1:48 as a midpoint). I got this from THIS PAGE .. which lists all of this series from 1:34 to 1:130. Note that this listing shows two models at exactly 1:55 with an assortment that 'hover' around that scale from 1:50 to 1:60 |

Posted - 08/17/2010 : 11:03:07 AM Harold, the first van is a model of a Renault from before the first world war (to help anyone who is looking for one). |

Posted - 08/17/2010 : 10:31:34 AM Found this while looking for Scale55 motor vehicles:

The model is made by Lledo Collectibles, and is part of their 'Days Gone By' range.
I believe it is a Citreon but it could be Mack'd into an american Mack.

I think that is a Matchbox.

Posted - 06/19/2010 : 09:18:00 AM Hi Guys --
Thanks! For the moment, all of the "updates" are in the 1/35 scale Chambers Gas & Oil structure build ... and at some point, I'll get far enough along in that to need a break and come back to work on this little railroad. Definitely looking forward to that ... as the Dead Mule & Sinagua needs some cacti, some painted figures and some equipment ... not to mention a few other things! |
